Cause he only summons him when he needs him + he summoned him during the war

Naruto doesn't summon Gamabunta every time, or any other summon user don't uses it whenever they end up in a fight. In Gaara's case this was appropriate, because of Shukaku, as you know the "size" of both of the summons. It's similar to the "megazord" in the Power Rangers, they don't call it every time a small enemy comes out. Also, summoning someone like Gamabunta is not easy, it takes a lot of chakra. Naruto's shadow clone and sage mode were already draining a lot of chakra, which wasn't already entirely of his own, as you know some of that came from Kurama, as well.

it's mostly just because Gamabunta wasnt actually Narutos summon. His summon was Gamakichi, but in desperate times another Toad would answer the summons as needed. Same thing occurred when Jiraiya summoned Gamaken to deal with Pains Dog-like summon instead of his normal Gamabunta

Well Naruto was new to the Summoning Jutsu at the time and also didn't know alot of jutsu at the time. He didn't have a lot of options against a Tailed Beast. His instincts just told him to fight monster with monster.
Furthermore, he only had a relationship (not necessarily good) with 1 toad, Gamabunta. Who is way above his skillset and without a proper contract, you could say Gamabunta was summoned against his will. Like the time Naruto summoned him when he learnt the Summoning Jutsu. He trained under Jiraiya after that; learnt new jutsus (which added to his skillset and reduced his need for a summoning) and got contract with toads on his level if need be for a toad summoning

Because to summon a huge summoning requires a huge amount of chakra which he had to use kurama’s chakra for summoning gamabunta and apart from fighting someone of the size of tailed beasts he didn’t needed him and since Shippuden gamakichi got bigger so he summoned him

he had something important to protect so during the fight he was able to fully control the nine tails chakra unlike before and he used it to summon the chief toad which requires the much bigger kyuubi chakra (or jiraiya's larger chakra pool)
