Guys, I need some help. I want to start playing the VNs. Which one should I buy? Should I buy the old till the latest one? or buy Steins;Gate Elite?

Your help is much appreciated!

Steins gate elite is the anime in the form of a game. Basically, the idea is that you play the anime but its basically the same. Steins gate is the original visual novel that the show is based on and steins gate 0 is the sequel.

Buy the original one, instead of Elite, as elite cuts some of the content. Also, the VN definitely has more content than the anime, as you get inner dialogues, too. But, for non-canon stories and alternate endings, you'll need to buy elite.
Btw, There is "S;G - 0" VN, too.

i highly recommend you the original one, actually there is a bundle with s;g 0. if you watched the anime and didnt actually like 0, VN might change your mind, because it is way better, have much more content and characters are developed better, has very well written endings and such.
for the matter of which to buy elite or og, elite only better comparing in graphics, cuz animation was took from anime. but og has more interaction, more scenes and the plot is perceived easier and better

I also recommend the original one. Also if you can, obtain it from Steam and install the Committee of Zero patch, which corrects translation errors, puts subtitles to the openings and endings, translates the texts on the CGs, and applies a nicer font.

However, I must mention if you are interested in VNs, that Steins;Gate is just Part 2 of a longer story called Science Adventure (starting with Chaos;Head and ending with Anonymous;Code at the moment). I actually recommend the entire series, some entries are even better than Steins;Gate (this cannot be said about their anime adaptations though, don't touch those)

I bought the original VN and 0 when they were on sale on steam a few weeks ago. I would highly recommend them over Elite. The visuals and voice acting in the original VN's are still very great this mant years later.

For art and soundtrack play the original. For storytelling play Elite.

Can you elaborate how storytelling is superior in Elite, when:
- it cuts some of Okabe's internal monologues
- it censores one of the endings
- it cuts entire scenes from the original
- it adds a Kurisu intermission scene which breaks the whole point of the og VN, that we see every event from Okabe's POV, since he is the lone observer

I'm really curious how this can be superior in storytelling

Og hands down, it's not even up for debate. Playing the Vn and watching the anime is two completely different experiences. Don't ruin it by playing Elite which is just a watered down version of the anime.
You can always make money back, but you can't make back time

i'll be honest w you bro ive only played the original VN and I prefer the extra content added in the anime so I figured Elite would be the best pick. I own Elite just haven't played it. I bought it because I watched a youtube video explaining why it was the best experiecne and it sounded reasonable.

in addition to everyone hyping the og, look up a guide especially if you want to achievement-hunt
endings should present themselves somewhat-obviously but for a first time reader you might miss the trigger (like me) and have had your last save ten hours beforehand

The anime only adapts the true route from og. There is no "extra content" added. It has less content than the og. Elite also has less content than the og.

Buy the original don't buy Steins;Gate Elite. The original has a lot more to offer and is way better than Elite.

dude get off my ass. I was talking about the original content added to the main route in the anime. I've played all the routes in the og VN and they're good and great. But it was obvious that's not what i was referring to.

As for Elite I just told you I haven't played it so I have no idea.

Elite doesn't have the anime original content (the anime original content is nothing major though). The biggest change is about

the original visual novel is the best way to play, plus the original art style is pretty great. it's definitely a good starting point for visual novels, especially since both the VN and anime are highly regarded, the story is just that accessible.
