The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan
I want to watch this show, but what the heck happened to the art style???? Is that Kyon?? Man, what the f@ck? Why do they look like this?? I'm going to start this anime today because I really liked the original, but I don't know if I'm going to like this. I wanted to know how fans of the original perceived this series and if it's better, worse, or the same. Please lemme know your thoughts. |

I remember something that Arkada said which I found fitting If you watched Haruhi for the supernatural aspect you will not like this show but if you watched it simply for the characters you'll more often than not like this show Of course there is the problem Nagoto isn't a alien robot anymore but that gets expanded upon later |

As for my enjoyment, I definitely disliked it. It felt more like an anime for Nagato fans more than for the series fans. And even Nagato acted differently than the original Disappearance universe. | I realized this is basically necroposting(?) but I just wanted to say this just in case someone stumbles on this forum thread in the future. I loved both the original franchise and this show! The characters and art looks different sure, but they are still your familiar Haruhi characters—you'll feel right at home here. I cannot for the life of me understand the low ratings for this show. It's one wonderful, sweet, and cute romcom. What more could you ask for? We get to see more voice lines from otherwise "side characters" from the original franchise and get to see more sides of them. The entire show felt very much like a "gift" to the fans... well, I guess only to a small group of fans like me since this show clearly wasn't received well. From the episode names, to the characters' mannerisms, to familiar scenes, and nostalgic soundtracks—it's definitely more than I bargained for. I felt like I got to "go home" and re-experience everything all over again. This is my pure speculation, but a stubborn part of me believes the ratings have been tampered with or have been intentionally bombed by ""fans"" of the original franchise (do they even deserve to be called "fans" at this point?), so pay no attention to it and enjoy the show as it is—a sweet romcom in an alternate Haruhi universe. Don't know if this counts as a spoiler, so read my thoughts here with caution: I went in this spin-off with the full mindset of liking Yuki Nagato, and I did, but funnily enough, I ended up liking Haruhi Suzumiya even more! xD I hope future viewers would get to enjoy this show just as much as I did. What a treat it is! |
| This little spin-off is exactly what I would call adorable. When I first discovered this, I really didn’t know what to think since it has such a bad rating. But I can say as a fan of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, that this was completely worth my time. It made me love Yuki even more than I already did. The dude above is right in every single way. |

This spin-off is really wholesome if you've watched the parent story. I don't mind the studio change tho, in-fact it made nagato 10x much cuter. There are also scenes here that you can't find in the original, like Haruhi sometimes not acting the way she is and more. I think the reason (in my own opinion) this show is so low is because of the ending at episode 16 where [/spoiler]Kyon confesses at nagato in the middle of the fireworks show, that scene made all of the entire build up from the past couple of episodes wasted. I'm sure i'm not the only one who is disappointed. Some of you might say, "Kyon and Nagato will end up later in the series" If that was included in the anime, the score will be much higher. 7/10 for me, if there will be season 2 (which will never come) i'll look forward to it and score it much higher. (if it will satisfy me) |
| I’m late, but if you wanna watch this, and you’re a Nagato fan, then I’d say, give it a shot. For me, I hated it. It sucked a whole lot, but everyone has opinions. |
| The general consensus of the Haruhi community is that it is indeed, trash. So much so that only the more veteran Haruhi fans even know about this show's existence. Basically, this is what Handa-kun was to Barakamon. |

I completed the movie yesterday and I just wanted to see KyonXYuki, so this spinoff counts as nothing but a gift I was kinda apprehensive because of the ratings, but after reading your opinions, I think I’ll love it |

| The characters may look familiar, but they don't behave anything like the characters I know and love. This show only uses the Haruhi brand because nobody would watch it otherwise. |
