I think he didn't guessed the VIP. If I understood well theres two VIP per class, and I think he was one. So that I believe he told to the others in his group that he was the VIP, making the test end for his group.
Because otherwise I dont see another option for him making the test end.

kouenji put in a guess for his group’s vip (jupiter group) therefore ending the test for his group. if his guess is correct then he will gain 500,000 private points and 50 class points. if it’s incorrect he will lose 50 class points. an extreme gamble all because he felt the exam was a waste of his time.

the result of his geuss will be relieved either next episode or the one after.

That would not have instantly ended his test. He made a he test end instantly because he guessed. It is more clear in LN but he made the guess. Was he right? Find out next week… (or read LN volume 4)

Dunno man, he just seems like the person to end things quickly. He ended the island test (for himself) on day 1 and he's too busy perfecting his body to waste time on some tests.

there was a time gap between koenji sending a message and others receiving it so maybe your scenario is right
