Whenever you think the chapter count isn't correct on MAL, check the "More Info" tab for that manga. Steel Ball Run's More Info tab says this- Volume 2 contains the side story "Steel Ball Run Race Kaisai no Ikisatsu" (スティール・ボール・ランレース開催のいきさつ, How the Steel Ball Run Race Got Started). Volume 6 contains the extra story "The Story of Funny Valentine" (ザ ストーリー オブ ファニー・ヴァレンタイン).; --not included in the chapter count |
