What were your thoughts when you first saw Jonathan Joestar die in Phantom Blood?

I was sad and confused. Sad because a great JoJo (and the least problematic) is now dead. Confused because I didn't know ab parts having diff protagonists like Part 2 having Joseph and Part 5 having Giorno. I was like, "That's it? What's gonna happen now, the mc is dead!".

Felt the same when I saw Jonathan Die. I was like maybe he will be miraculously alive because a protagonist has to have plot armour.

Having no prior knowledge of how JoJo's works, I thought the mc dying was so weird. I thought he was the only JoJo, the one person the show surrounded lol, and he couldn't even last 10 episodes...
Eh, he's the worst JoJo in my opinion but his death was sad.

I was mainly confused as the main character of the anime was dead, after that I started to dislike the anime until I saw Battle Tendacy and started to understand that they had new main characters every season

it was more sad to me than anything, like the whole build up to the end and them actually fighting and "both" of them dying left me wondering if things would've turned out differently Jonathan was not what he was and if their father raised them correctly.

It really surprised me because I didn’t know anything about this show and how it worked. But once I started part 2 shortly after I was a lot more intrigued about where this series was going and that’s what motivated me to continue watching during the slower parts. Fast forward like 2 years later I’ve been obsessed with JoJo, I’m straight up a JoJo crackhead it has slowly but surely become my favorite anime of all time.

I knew he was gonna die so I felt nothing. Didn’t like part 1 so even did I didn’t know, I wouldn’t have felt much tbh.

When I saw Jonathan's death,I thought:"So are they just gonna kill every mc at the end of every part?"I am glad they did not repeat the same formula over and over again.

when I first read the manga, I was too young to give a F or take notice if a character was "boring", it's also the reason why when I first watched part 3 a year ago, I loathed the experience. I might not be able to rewatch part 1 today

Before watching the series people didn't stop saying part 1 was boring but I watched anyways I think it was pretty good, kind a waste of good characters and a really good jojo just for a couple of episodes but anyway

Out of all the parts (part 1-8) TO THIS DAY I still feel horrible and awful for my nigga Jonathan, he’s literally the most noble righteous Jojo out of all the Jojo’s (except maybe like Giorno that nigga is literal Saint in my eyes he’s just too perfect๐Ÿ˜ญ). He didn’t deserve to die man it actually still hurts me to this day, like DIO is just a purely evil ass nigga he ain’t have to do my nigga Jon like that๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ญ

I got into Jojo's without knowing anything about it. At the end of phantom blood, I didn't think he was dead and I thought he was the pillar man they showed at the end. It was at the end of part 2 when I realized he's not coming back and that there's a new mc every part.

I honestly liked Jonathan dying, not because I didn’t like him, but it was narratively driven and he didn’t pull out plot armor. Kind of expected/ wished every Jojo would die at the end of their arc like Jonathan did after finishing phantom blood, but I wasn’t disappointed going forward.
