Yeah I'm really not sure what happened there, I'm very confused ngl. Like she decided to save everyone which honestly didn't feel like that hard of a choice so it felt kind of stupid that that was the choice she had to make. And then she loses all her memories which makes her hair turn brown which don't get me wrong is friggin adorable ngl.

So like... was that suppose to be a complete story? If so then thats incredibly dissapointing. It could have had so much potential if the series spanned out for several seasons, but like this it just didnt deliver.

Until now, I have no idea which one that Fena choose? Is it the future where the crews will going to die? If that so, then it's kinda dark (a.k.a die together with them)._. since she doesn't want to choose the other one where she and Yukimaru will live on the Ark.

i don’t think it was that confusing… her duty as a maiden was to choose whether to reset the world or leave it as be (future in which her friends would die at some point). if she chose to reset the world, she’d only be able to save yukimaru, but if she chose to leave it as be, all her friends would stay alive, at least for the time being. then she chose to leave it as be to save all her friends, and not only yukimaru (as she told him, she wouldn’t be able to choose only him ‘cause she likes everyone so much), and then she promised herself that even if she chose the path in which her friends die in the future, she’d find a way to create a future in which they don’t die. also, the maiden looses her memory whichever path she chooses.

in conclusion, at the end of the episode, fena and her friends were revisiting the places they’d been to see if she recovers her memory…

at least that’s what i understood xd

Yup, pretty much! Good explanation and that's what I understood as well. And just because she chose a world where all her friends and Yukimaru might die, that doesn't mean it will happen. Remember that Franz/Cody said that the future is not set in stone and can always be changed.
I enjoyed the ending. It was ok but I wouldn't say it was the best ever. Still I'm glad it was a happy ending for Fena and Yukimaru and the rest of the crew.

There wasn't really any balance in the story which makes it underwhelming. Without some kind negative thing happening it makes the choice less significant then it should be. For it to mean something there would have to be something going on in the world that's bad and tipping the scales in a downward direction. There needs to be a real compelling reason to start the world over without it it's just like a random hey you wanna end the world for no real reason?

It feels like the team had tons of ideas but instead of picking one they smashed every idea in the last episodes.

The point is that when you have two outcomes you will always dwell into if you decided or not well about such outcome. Losing the memories about having that decisions allow her to maintain her own sanity because once shit hit the fan she wouldnt have thoughts about the other outcome. She didnt really save anyone, she just decided to let things be as they are, so the possibility of them dying is still there, the possibility of the whole civilization destroying itself in a far future is still there, anything bad that happen from now on could have been prevented if she took the other side, and every trace of such decision would live in her memory forever, while also the feeling that her whole life was a frabricated lie too (The equivalent of the thought that your whole life is being designed by another entity and that the choices that exist are just illusions, which is another branch of how one could understand the world if we give ourselves that much of an importance). That is mostly it.

The concept is not really new, how memory forges what we are and what we comprehend about ourselves have been done in the past (Idk about anime but Gravity Falls did almost the exact thing better, TTG, Higurashi and Madoka explored the theme too) and then the weight of the decision is there, the problem in this case is that the memories of Fena are not that engaging, there is barely a sense of "I will miss the old Fena" (While in Gravity Falls or Madoka it was a monumental flow of emotions once the decisions was taken because the characters were vivid), and you just have to trust the crew reaction about it. That is why they did the final montage too, to allow us understand the weight of her memories and such matters. In one point you can see the crew moving forward while she saw two lookalikes of Abel and Helena, which somehow tell you that she has the ability to recover the sentiments about the people that she met, but that she shouldnt dwell with such and keep with the present to live happily. In the end she still has the classic hit in the forehead that Yukimaru did too, that is kind of strong if you think about it. So yeah, that would have hit harder if they didnt fuck up her development

Why is Fena's hair black now? Her mother's hair never changed even after coming back from Eden?

So basically Fena choose to sacrifice herself without any good choice. Feels like choose "the worst" than "really terrible" option. But in the end they make Fena remember everything with just that. So they really turn it down by one episode. Disappointed, but the journey is enjoyable.
