I cant decide which is better between the two but i liked your name more than weathering with you because you're gonna cry a little bit, i did cry at weathering with you but not as much as your name, the "i love you" scene totally made me cry, and the falling scene at weathering with you is hella good it made me cry a little because of how good the scenery and the song was.

I would say Your Name is better on the first watch, but Weathering With You is better to rewatch. You start to notice little plot holes with Your Name upon further viewings but still an excellent movie.

I liked weathering with you better but i dont know the reason why. Maybe because people kept hyping your name and i thought it would be greater than it actually was, there was almost no physical interactions nor verbal interactions on your name (as far as i can remember) but weathering with you had alot of it, weathering also had some cringey scenes but i forgave it. I like weathering better by a hair, but all in all both are great movies

really? For me weathering with you and your name are better because they have a wholesome moment and a sad moment, and a silent voice is like depression the whole show

I think both movies are excellent but your name evoked stronger emotions within me which i didn’t feel with Weathering with you, i don’t know if this is maybe just me or if it is something to do with the way they produced the movies.

Wow I thought it would be closer than that. Im that few that like weathering with you more. Both are good tho but rewatchble wise I think weathering with you comes out on top. Your name had the initial shock factor that carries it on first view.

I felt like Weathering with you took a lot of aspects of Your name and kind of made it into something new, I didn’t really like it that much tho. Your name was more enjoyable for me and I personally think weathering with you was only meh compared to Your name.

I mean the characters and the world of tenki no ko are better than the ones in your name. On the other hand the story progression is better in your name. Music is equally good in both, so I lean more at tenki no ko. I’ve always had this love for rain so this was a very good movie for me. Remember all I said about wich parts are better are based on my opinion and personal enjoyment

I just feel like the characters in Weathering With You aren’t as well written as the characters in Your Name. Like both are good movies, but I just didn’t think they felt really genuine in WWY.

I didn't actually mean a literal ripoff. I was saying the writer tried to play it safe using the same type of ending abut failed miserably

Tenki no ko imo, i cannot comprehend how disappointed i was in Your name the first time I watched it. I'd watched a Silent voice as my 1st ever anime and TO THIS DAY it is one of my 2 10/10 anime. Since it broke all sorts of anime movie records, i was expecting Your name to be on the same level, which it wasn't. Not saying it was bad bc it was the complete opposite of bad, but i was disappointed - in my eyes it didn't live up to its hype. It just felt really generic in places, some of the characters were 2-dimensional and i feel like emotional value were what gave this movie the hype that it got. I watched Tenki no Ko maybe 2 months later, and I honestly feel like it had even BETTER visuals than Your Name. I liked the characters (side characters especially) waaaaay more than your name. I feel like the story had a better flow to it, although i wasn't really fond of the endings of either movie and I actually think the story/plot and setting for WWY was better.

Both are 8/10s imo. I'll go with weathering because I have more respect for the film honestly. The concept was pretty original and it had some twists I didnt expect. The plot was simple and just worked.

Mesnwhile your name does the freaky friday thing and has strange convoluted timeshift stuff mixed with brainwiping at the end. And then the main characters still recognize each other at the end for some reason? Idk it wasnt super cohesive.

He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy.
