Imoutos vs Older Brother's Female Friend

This has been a common gag most of us have seen in anime. The little sister always fights for the attention of their older brother with their female friends. As I've seen this jokes many times in anime, I've wondered the underlying meaning behind the joke. Now don't get me wrong. This isn't debate about the morality of the close relationships you see between brothers and sisters in anime. I don't have siblings myself, so I couldn't really understand the sentiment. But I often times wonder from a realistic perspective why a younger sibling would be jealous of their older sibling being in a close relationship with someone of the opposite gender to them. As well as a female friend who may be well-endowed physically. I mean, I could understand it if it was someone of the same gender to their sibling since they may view their sibling as their own best friend in a way. Do you think the meaning behind the joke could simply be that the little sister doesn't want to be forgotten by their siblings? Or do you think there could be a forbidden love aspect to it?

you are reading into it too much. it is part of the fetish, a really popular one in anime, the bro-con sort of thing. I wont complain tho

don't overthink it. at the end of the day, it's just an anime trope.

as a sibling myself, when i found out that my siblings had obtained partners, i didn't really feel sad, and felt happy for them.
