The webtoon/manhwa from Korea and China has become a part of reading culture for many users on MAL. Also looking at anime like Tower of God which have source material from manhwa are becoming mainstream. The site admins should stop being obstinate and accept a whole new world of content.

actually thinking about it,
anime and manga made outside of Japan should be added,
even if they are only released in English Dub.

as long as its labeled as Anime, or Manga.

i tried to add anime before, but because it was U.S based it was not acceptable to be added into MAL DB, which i found weird,

but i hope they discuss this rule again

also we do have English Voice actor and others listed, so it should not be limited to Japan release,

I agree, i ended up just making a manhwa list in my bio though. Some manhwas dont get on here but others do. I was suprised when i saw lookism on here cause most of the ones i like more arent.

At this point, anime and manga is more of an art style than a Japanese niche. This used to be such a big conversation a few years ago, but it seems like no one cares about making a distinction anymore and I agree that defining an entire medium as belonging to one country only makes no sense.

It really seems like it's more of a branding thing nowadays, and MAL are just one of the last sites to be elitist about it (that and reddit. oh god reddit.) Just make it known that it's not from Japan and add it lol i don't get why it's such a big deal to only have the most popular ones

I think they only add the licensed manhwas/webtoons, but I wish they would just add them all because most manhwas I read aren't on here.

also if you do search in MAL,
there are Chinese and Korean animes, than why US not included xD make no sense at all

if MAL wanna focus in Japanese releases than should they just remove all other countries releases from their database?

i started not to care anyway,,
just gonna enjoy watching anime regardless where they were released

Not in my opinion, its a slippery slope, MAL will end up adding every comic and cartoon ever created, manhwa/webtoon fans should make their own dedicated platform.

Then anime like Tower of God should or should not be included. Also the new one coming out soon, The God of High-school? They have also added manhwa which garner a huge following like Solo Leveling.
They can't just decide by popularity.
