Disclaimer: I am new-ish to anime. I run a fishing lure business (on the side), and I strayed into anime after getting bored with the other Hulu content streaming on the Surface behind my station. Toradora! is a decade old, but it was new to me. Up until now it's been stuff I can play in the background, like "How Not To Summon a Demon Lord", etc etc.

-

Finished Toradora! over the weekend, and I'm not going to lie--it has messed me up. This is my second day at work where I am virtually worthless, pushing emails around on my digital plate. I've never watched a show, anime or otherwise, that has caused this level of distress. I finished the last episode Sunday night, and I closed out the browser thinking "damn it, I want that, I want all of that." And I'm not some emo teen--I'm 35, for f*ck's sake.

Damn. Need to just rewatch episodes of Bob's Burgers from now on.

Not exactly on cloud 9, after a buddy at work (who has served as my anime Sherpa) finished explaining that there are tons of popular animes that never get a season 2. How does anyone survive this?

Even having something adapted in its entirety is the exception rather than the norm, with Toradora! being one of these exceptions

Not that satisfactory endings can't be derived from adaptions that don't cover all their source materials, but watchers are rather used to this norm. More often than not people go read the remaining source manga/Light novels because of this :p

Welcome to the community btw!

Yeah I remember my first time I watched Toradora!. I didn’t watch anime for ~2 months after that lol, I love that show. It showed me what I want in a romance.

I’ve heard Golden Time is similar to Toradora!, but don’t take my word for it.

If you want any recommendations, feel free to ask. Don’t be shy in the forums, feel free to explore and be outgoing.

That was pretty much my Discord conversation with my anime Sherpa: "F*CK THIS SHOW, F*CK ANIME, F*CK ALL OF IT I'M NEVER WATCHING IT AGAIN." I know they're just drawing, but damn it I HURT. All of it can be distilled into one image:

That attitude behind it is killing me. I'm a grown ass man, damn it!

That sounds similar to my experience with Usagi Drop which I discovered only last year, immensely heartwarming slice of life anime that really left an imprint on me and like yourself wished the story just kept rolling, so I could see more of Rin's childhood (I avoided the horrendous manga conclusion which seems to ruin the earlier books, after the time-skip into her high school years).

Damn man,I'm nearly 50,and Toradora! affects me just as much, esp the eps at the christmas party,so you're not alone in that respect.

Theres shedloads of other anime, and one that has already been mentioned I would recommend highly,Golden Time.
Keep at it though, theres a lot of rubbish out there, but also a hell of a lot of diamonds too,and though you do find,as others have mentioned, that quite often a series you get really into doesn't get continued,or ends in a rushed, crap way,and other faults, theres always another to turn to.(or you could go down the Light Novel or Manga route to see if whatever it was continues onwards there. It often does)
Ask the folks on here for recommendations if you need some, loads on here will be more than happy to help.

And,btw, welcome to the wonderful world of Anime, and say goodbye to your spare time, sometimes your sanity, and usually the rest of your life :)

Enjoy,Dusty.

Toradora messed me up because I wanted more even though I was completely happy with the ending! I would have loved a second season. This was such a true love couple with no doubt in his mind who he loved. By far one of my favorite romance anime alongside Onegai Teacher. Onegai Teacher is dear to my heart because it was a first romance anime for me.

Toradora was one of a kind though. It was one where even the supporting characters I liked. Now I must watch this anime again for the dozenth time. lol. XD

Going to eat your brains and gain your knowledge.

I finished the anime 4 days ago and here I am with a new top waifu(obviously Taiga - I didn't know that I had a thing for tsunders but they are my favorite now) and a big post anime depression. I had it before when I finished Akame ga kill and it was because the sad love story between Mine and uhh the main character(forgot his name) but it wasn't even close to strong compared to this depression now. I started the anime because I was seeing Taiga over the internet and thought she was cute. I was thinking that it wouldn't be anything special just another anime that I will watch but when it ended it made a huge hole in my heart. I wanted to see more of the relationship between Taiga na Ryuji (idk if it's spelled like that). Idk what to do now. All I am thinking about is this anime and especially Taiga cuz i love her with all of my heart.

If you want to get another anime that will give you another dose of the same feels, the closest I ever found was Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! (also known as Chu2).

I enjoyed Toradora but if you think this show messes with you watch Nisekoi. Its very similar but imo better written than this. Nisekoi took me out for a few days afterwards, which Toradora didn't manage to do. Id also recommend Clannad but you will need strong tear ducts.

i must admit that I've never actually watched Nisekoi, but seeing someone put Nisekoi's writing over Toradora is quite a first for me

You should watch it. Would be good to see if someone else thinks the same
