Why did it go from 48 to 24 episodes?

If I remember correctly when the series first aired it was scheduled to be at 48 episodes and now its 24 episodes, I’m kinda confused on this change does anyone know about it?

At first it was just a rumour we weren't 100% sure about it. But recently it was confirmed its 48 eps but in 2 different seasons...

Ok cool, Im actually really ok with that, I was kinda worried about it being 48 episodes long because I thought the animation quality would drop if it went that long in one sitting. So this good news! Thank you!
