By the way, I found out recently that not watching romance/slice of life stuff helps greatly with talking to people irl. That's right, NOT watching it helps... I think.
The thing is when you're socially deprived, your mind will try to make up for that by watching someone who IS good at social interactions. When you watch romance anime you put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist, and it kind of feels as good as actually talking to someone you like. That's part of why it feels so good when the characters in a romcom finally start dating.
So what happens if you DON'T watch romantic stuff when your brain craves it? You look for it in real life. It forces you to interact with people!

Of course, if you're 100% scared to talk to people, then perhaps it is better to have an outlet for that in the form of anime, but for everyone else who is socially inept like I am, I recommend trying that sometime.

Another thing that might work, which I heard from Jordan Peterson (He's a controversial figure I know), was to ask for the phone number of as many people as possible to overcome the fear of rejection. Personally, I haven't tried it but I thought it was worth sharing.
To ask someone out I usually picture my life alone. The fear of not being with that person suddenly becomes much greater than the fear of being rejected by them, so I HAVE to ask them out. After all, I'm only running away from an even bigger fear by doing so.

What do you think? I thought this might help people going through the same problems as me or... any freaking person on the planet. I refuse to believe that fear of rejection is all that uncommon.

Another PRO TIP I have, that's not related to love at all, is that closing your session BEFORE turning off your PC avoids Windows' constant updates. I have no idea why, but when I see that yellow shield on the turn off button I just close my session instead. Then, on the screen when you pick the user, the power off button will not have a shield on it.

And finally, the Insert key does this weird thing where if you delete a letter it will delete the one coming after the semicolumn. If that happens to you just press the Ins key again, then click anywhere else. Problem solved.
(You can also just disable it altogether, does anyone still use that key?)

Haha thanks, but don't actually ditch the people you already know xD

Does anyone know of any good live action series to watch? Preferably action oriented and with knights and stuff? I love that shit.
No Game of Thrones though, I already know which characters die just by looking at them, so if anything I might start reading the books. I have seen the pictures but I don't know anyone by name so that might help me forget the really important stuff at least.

I dont usually have it, but wanted to grab it for GOT's last season, and they're in the middle of a contract fight with Dish (gotta have satellite I live literally in the middle of nowhere) and I CANNOT sign up for it at the moment. I had to settle for getting an HBO GO account (yeah, that's my story, I would never grab the show off some illegitimate website or anything, I promise! lol)

it's just my sense of humor tbh, i dont think that most of the time. i'm a little stupid sometimes but my brain is okayish, just sucks for math. i'm actually pretty good at history and english so i'd like to think i would read the book fine, i'm just lazy as hell and stopped loving reading after being forced to.

Haha no problem. My life's been kinda busy as well.
I suck at math also. I'm just now starting to understand integrals lol
I want to go back to studying stupid rocks please :(

Forcing people to read something is the worst.
Like, yeah, some books are undoubtedly very influential. But is that enough reason to force someone to read it?
Lord of the Rings changed storytelling forever, but you never hear teachers or professors talk about it.

Who's to say Kill a Mockingbird is more important than Harry Potter.
You can argue that it is just because it's grounded on reality, but it's all very subjective. Isn't Harry Potter an alegory for WW2? Isn't Narnia full of religious subtext?
If you want to find meaning in something, you can do so in about every piece of literature that exists. But you cannot tell children "this message is worth exploring". They have to find meaning by themselves, from something they're passionate about.

Encourage your kids to read, don't force them down that path. That would be like me forcing people to watch Evangelion. Yes, it also has a lot to say about the state of Japan back in the day, but you wouldn't force someone to watch that... Would you?

And I feel like many of the books we got forced to read were very female oriented.
It's always about romance and politics, never about knights or saving the world. Kids need that too.
No wonder boys are so turned off from reading. You know that most are programmed to like certain things, yet you tell them from a very young age "that which your brain craves, you will not find here". It's cruel.

Anyway. I never had a problem with that because I read mostly everything, but I know so many people who haven't touched a book in their lives. It's sad. Screw that system.

I don't think I've seen many smart people make fun of themselves. They seem quite indiferent for the most part.
... Except for me. Can't you see how smart and self degrading I am lol
Jk my grades are shit.

I actually have experienced this myself. I've known some really intelligent people that I look up to that consider themselves average at best. I consider myself completely inferior, so maybe I'm utterly brilliant? lol I don't know with those kinds of people if it's a inside joke kinda thing, or if they are just really modest.

The more you know, the more you realize there's so much more you don't.

Yeah, I think it's basically that. Kids think they are brilliant because they aren't aware of how much they don't know. The world is still rather simple. As they grow older, however, knowledge humbles them and they start accepting the fact that they're dumb and actually don't know shit xD

Kid: Of course 2+3 = 5, you idiot!
Adult: The fuck even is a vector? I suck at physics, man...

i also think like once you see other people better than you, it immediately brings you back to earth as a kid. i was a super smart kid, never had to put in effort for anything. i learned quickly what took most kids a couple days, even up until middle school. moment i had to juggle seven classes, all about things i didnt understand or know fully is when i had the reality check of "i'm not as smart as i thought, i'm completely average"
it's also a thing of academic smarts is completely different to any other type of smart. i think grades made us forget that they're not the only thing that determines a level of smart we are. i'm sure as hell not academic smart anymore, but i'm sure as hell good with people and am people smart. i'm sure a lot of people feel that way with various topics.

Lol yeah, I think I clicked when I started university. I didn't think I was average through highschool at least. I always did very well back then. Then college started and it fucked me over.

I think the easiest way to notice would be with paleonthology. Everyone loves dinosaurs as a kid, and can tell you all the names and facts about their teeth... Then you actually have paleonthology and you're like... Oh, dinosaurs are like 1% of what we have to study, and it's not just knowing names, you have to be able to recognize their skull and say how old they are based on sedimentary rocks or some other dating methods, or you're useless. I'm effing screwed xD

Education sure is a wild ride.

I never had to study. At all. Couldn't even understand the process. I read something, and either I have it, or I don't. High School was so slow and painfully dull for me I ended up dropping out (there's an oxymoron; an intelligent dropout). Well that and the whole 'being insanely bipolar' mixed together I guess. I waited until I was 35 to try college, and discovered a few things.

1. Gram staining can kiss my ass.

2. knowing every detail about every single Star Wars character (like Salacious Crumb's life story and the fact that Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc and went to Dengar's wedding!) really didn't leave any room in my head for the name of all the bones, or basic algebra, or child development. I was (and kind of am) a neurotic walking fountain of random facts and pop culture trivia though. Oh, and the Star Wars stuff? Pre-Disney obviously, I think I read like 40 of them shitty EU novels to get all that info then Disney poofs it all away. I'm still angry bout that lol.

So I made it to Spring Break before realizing college wasn't gonna do me much good.

Still don't know how to study, but I have realized that learning easily doesn't necessarily make you 'smart', especially if you don't learn useful, practical information and skills.

I mostly exercise my lower half because I have a good strong... pair of legs (¬‿¬) but a tiny dick unfortunately
And the karate I was taught as a kid relied heavily on those. The stuff they made us do was insane!
I went back 2 years ago because my psychiatrist said doing exercise might help with depression and they had changed the curriculum somewhat. They made us do push ups and stuff.

I forgot to ask what style it was. I believe it was Kyokushin judging by some moves we practiced that were identical to Jin's from Tekken, but I might be wrong.

Hey me too actually, I have little upper body strength but very strong legs. I had knee surgery for a deformity (I stood like Sailor Mercury does when she poses, to quickly illustrate) and the doc said the stronger my legs, the longer before the metal in my knees puts me in a wheelchair. So I walked everywhere, still walk a lot even now. Keep my legs strong, can't take the idea of losing my mobility.

so if the moon falls (wasn't that like in a Zelda game or something?) I could kick that bitch back into orbit. But trying to pick up two gallons of milk with one hand makes me whimper like a little baby lol

Lol yeah. Also, legs already have a much greater potential you can use because they have to lift your body all the freaking time. You can train very little and be able to lift a human twice your mass, easily. When you translate that into a kick it's devastating.

You do have to train to be able to kick though, because most people kick very slowly, and acceleration is very important for translating body mass into force.
It's also harder to put all of your body mass into them, but once you do you're golden!

Just look at that. I have no idea what style he's using but it looks amazing lol
