Now this is my speculation, but from the latest episode, I think the hair color difference between quints are just for the viewers to differentiate them, as characters don't seem to see any difference. Like in latest episode, Futaro recognized both Miku and Itsuki based on their pajamas, not the hair (granted, Itsuki's and Miku's hair color is kinda similar, but not exactly same color). Since people were complaining that hair color would ruin the plot from the manga later, this is more plausible that producers thought about it and just changed hair color for us to differentiate. What do you think?

That makes sense, but each one of the sisters have a different hairstyle, so I think the colors are different to make each girl more unique and recognizable to the viewers, so yeah

They do have different hair colors in the manga, but it less obvious than the anime version.

But I heard that Futaro couldn't distinguish them based on hair color in the manga, is it true? I though about this because of that

If you have a look at the manga cover only 3 of them more or less have the same hair colour

yes, it is only some adjustment for better character design in colored medium.
it would be boring if all have same color.

Ahh, now I'm confused again. So it was confirmed in latest episode that they had exact same hair color when there were younger. So the it can't be just a studio making their color different just for viewers, because it wouldn't make sense changing color when they get older. Does this mean they actually dye their hair all the time? Because it doesn't seem like that at all.

Well if the MC can't tell which one is which then they still have the same hair colour

If they indeed have same color and it's just for the viewers after all, then why making younger quints hair color same? It doesn't make sense for me. I know this is done probably because we would know who is the girl in the picture that way, but they shouldn't have used different colors for the hair if that's the case.

They're all pink with a bit of other color in them like Miku is brownish pink while Nino is magenta. Probably

It's definitely an aesthetic choice and the characters in the story doesn't perceive it in a similar light like us the audience. It gives them more of an identity and better definition as a character. And as for their childhood picture, it implies their lack of identity when they were younger which we will go in depth later on in the series.

Well, yeah, I thought about that too, but it still looks quite strange :D

It's probably to hide the fact which one of the 5 futaro met all those years ago.

Well, pretty sure that's because you genuinely couldn't tell the difference, plus theirs a plot with fena and stuff so yeah, I think they may change color back for the mystery soemtiems
