| I'm looking for a series where the MC(s) is trying to cure some sort of curse. It should fulfill the following rules: 1) The MC has to be actively looking for some sort of cure throughout the series. It doesn't have to be the entire plot of the series, but curing or at least improving the curse should be somewhere in there. This is regardless of wether or not the curse actually can be cured (though I would assume the MC wouldn't know if it cannot be cured until later on). 2) The MC has to view the curse as a negative thing. They may take advantages of it at times, but it should be overall viewed as negative. 3) The curse may be bestowed at any time (birth, later), it can even be self inflicted. It may be physical or mental, so long as it is viewed as "not normal" within universe. 4) If it's not the MC, a regular cast member also works, so long as they get plenty of screen time (and it's not just a one or two episode sort of deal) 5) Personal preference, I'm not big into comedy or slice of life. Doesn't necessarily have to be action oriented (I enjoy a slow burning drama too). Some examples: FMA Fruits Basket (at the very least, they're trying to improve it, and the curse itself is a major plot point) Dragon Quest 8 Higurashi Princess Mononoke Slayers (Zelgadis) Mushishi (some eps) Zelda games (I dunno, a bunch of them, they seem to like putting curses of sorts on Link) NOT examples: Ranma 1/2 (they spend almost no time looking for a cure. Hell, the cure is completely obvious, just buy a damn plane ticket and go back to China! Why did they even bother leaving the damn springs area? The cure was right at the damn place they got it from!) Berserk (I know Guts has that demon marker thing, but removing it hardly seems to concern him) Case Closed/Detective Conan (since curing the curse would probably end the series and it hardly seems concerned with in after the first few seasons anyway, I'm going to put this as a bad example. Most of the show are short murder mysteries anyway) Kokoro Connect (seeing how they know the weird stuff will eventually time out, they don't really try to stop anything so much as just deal with it) |
