Hey folks. I'm looking for either an anime or manga where the mc maybe has some very strong powers or some other skills and things happen where he just goes out of control, or at least has a very hard time controlling himself. For example someone he loves dies or gets hurt and it causes him to go on a rampage, maybe even dip into darkness for a while. Maybe his love interest has to call him back from that darkness.

Also just as important, the longer the anime or manga is, the better. It also doesn't have to be as serious as life and death situations either. Could be the mc joins the Manga's "bad guy" side maybe to protect his friends or to accomplish something else.

I guess that's kind of two different things there. Either one would be great, both would be amazing.

I should have mentioned i was looking for a more serious manga/anime. I don't know about the first suggestion but hidan no aria doesn't fall into what I'm looking for. He loses control but the outcome is just kind of stupid. It's not like it's really BAD for him to lose control, yanno?

The third one i don't know about either. Is it serious or just another generic harem show?

OK, forget about Shimai Maou (though i don't know if it will turn out to be good at the end).
Densetsu no Yuusha might be decent. I'll think about other anime that could fit. :o

Rosario to Vampire, MC starts off normal but gets mad strong as he gets vampire blood that if he lets lose will pretty much kill him. Not as serious in the first season but the second is definitely worth it. (Manga over the anime as it's much better imo)

Not really what I'm looking for. Looking for a more serious one, with less of the generic haremy stuff and tropes

Well... Naruto, Fairy Tail, Bleach, One Piece, DBZ fit very well... If you don't mind watching or skipping tons of filler episodes.
+1 Tokyo Ghoul

Shingeki no Kyoujin fits.
Owari no Seraph is good.
Densetsu no Yuusha Densetsu for sure.
~You can't have any.

MPD Psycho.

Detective with multiple personalities, investigating each one while they commit crimes. Doesn't realize it, because he has multiple personalities.

Claymore. Anime is mediocre, manga is amazing. The premise might seem like Bleach/Tokyo Ghoul/Attack on Titan at first but Claymore is handled without the kind of dragging storyline/bad characters criticisms so commonly hurled at the three mentioned.

VAGABOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Main character really likes swordfighting. Way too much for his own good. His bloodlust ensures a very interesting and active life dealing with the consequences of his actions. He's out of control, definitely. Philosophically provocative, educational, has some of the best art in manga ever. Can't recommend it enough.

Besides naruto, what I'm looking for unfortunately doesn't apply to any of those except Tokyo Ghoul. Can't remember if it happens in densetsu no yuusha densetsu though. Been a while since i saw that. Oh! There is a couple scenes where it happens in bleach actually.

Crap i completely forgot to mention i was looking for completed manga/anime too. Mpd psycho sounds interesting but it's still ongoing. Watched claymore. Think i dropped vagabond.

I just hate it when you're loving a manga, like 100 chapters in, and then boom, you have to wait for new chapters.

Not sure if it will be your thing but Kurenai is about a MC who choose to have some mystic/organic weapon grafted into him and has big troubles controlling it in stressful situations.
It's not the main theme of the anime by far and he really only loose it in the last ep when his mother figure is stabbed, but it is also a very nice anime with lots of endearing characters and funny situations.
I'm a big softie.

Claymore's manga has just finished. The art is insanely better than the anime's and the anime is also maybe 20% of the plot of the whole series. The anime also has a false ending that isn't canon because they had to wrap it up, so I'd recommend going back to Claymore.

Parasyte is really good manga-wise, don't know about anime. Starts with the standar Bleach/Tokyo Ghoul/Attack on Titan omg I have a monster body how do I not eat humans but delves into the emotional state of the main character and how his interpersonal relationships are affected better than all of them. Actually believable, emotionally impactful, and not stupid.
