Anime where everyone dies, and stays dead (spoilers obviously within)

Having given up on watching shows that are what I would consider "good," I'm now looking for things that I would at least enjoy slightly. For example, one of my favorite elements of anime is when the entire cast that I had found annoying for so long is killed in the last two episodes. This has even made ~50 episode shows bearable by the end.

So, I challenge you:
What anime get rid of all or nearly all the characters by the final episode? Hopefully not just holding off until the end, I also don't mind killing off one an episode for several episodes. Preferably said anime would not leave the main character or the main character's irritating girlfriend around after everyone else is dead, too. One or two people left is fine, but not if they suck. An allowance is made for shows with exceptionally large casts, like LoGH, but I doubt there's much like it around.

I don't care if it's on my list, or if I've seen it, I know what I've seen and I can sort through. I also don't care whether or not the anime is actually good.

You should watch Busou Renkin. It turns out everyone is alive and well at the end.

The only anime I can ever suggest to you, Plate, is Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I think it's the only show you could ever possibly give a 10. Also, people die. Sadly that show sux because so many good characters die. Who is left?

What? I think you got the wrong thread. Nobody dies in this show.

Space Runaway Ideon.

Wikipedia said:
The apocalyptic ending of Be Invoked was unexpected by many and cemented director Yoshiyuki Tomino's "Kill 'em All" reputation. Characters on both sides of the final fight were given gruesome and shocking death scenes: a very young character being decapitated by gunfire, for instance, was seen as particularly shocking at the time. Be Invoked features the destruction of the Ideon, the death of the entire cast, and possibly the entire universe (though this is left open to viewer interpretation, a large portion of the universe is clearly destroyed, with the implication of further destruction). Their reincarnation is also shown, as fits the series' themes of death and rebirth.

Amusingly, Tomino himself has stated in an issue of Newtype that although Ideon is one of his favorite works, he himself wonders sometimes how he could come up with such a depressing ending at the time. Tomino tended to do this often because he often wished to never make sequels to his work, quite ironic considering how long Gundam has lasted. Although even in all of his mass death endings there was at least always a chance for a followup, the same can not exactly be said about Ideon.

Then you don't really need anything else. Just go watch it now. And if you're not satisfied, there's also

Bokurano manga is even more applicable than the anime. Try both, the anime is one of those that goes in a different direction with different themes from the source material.

Yeah, I was there before I made this thread. Their main pages aren't always exhaustive so I had some vague hope that MAL would be a better resource.

But thats only because the ending to the Gantz anime sucks and it stops following the manga. Although most of those people die anyway...

Euh ... I'm serious why I would not ?
Just a little recap of all the death :

I agree there's some stupid revival and ridiculous cliffhanger but most of the time when someone die he stay dead.
And lot of the characters who have been killed were appreciated by the fan.

It's really not like Bleach ...

Everyone is dying one by one , in this train of wreck everyone will be dead at the end of the manga :D
To be honest the most of the main cast has been already killed, all it left is all the ninjas from Naruto generation and Kakashi, Gai and Kurenai.

I can only suggest picking back up from your dropped list

If memory serves correct, a lot of people die in that show by the end. Unless, of course, you have a vendetta against the show and hate it with a passion.

While I did like that the entire cast was killed twice, after that it seemed to go downhill and others have told me that it doesn't get any better.

Try Hellsing Ultimate or Mononoke, most of the cast are Vampire or Mononoke so they are already dead.
