Hey guy, been wanting to watch this for a long while but it was still airing, now that I notice it's finished I was wondering does it have a proper ending therefor worth me starting?

It depends what you mean by proper ending.

The show itself ends well but just like any other series, it ends at a a spot in which you want to know what happens next.

If by proper ending you mean one that closes up all plot threads and ends with the manga then no. The anime did end before the manga(which is currently on hiatus and who knows when it will start up again) and things were left unexplored and unfinished. But it is a fine ending for what it was.

Even though there are still loose ends that need to be tied up in not only the anime, but the manga as well, I still recommend you go ahead and watch it now. The anime will inevitably return once the manga finally comes off its hiatus and puts considerable distance away from the anime ending; although, this probably won't happen for another 5+ years at the pace Togashi has been going (the series isn't dubbed Hiatus x Hiatus for nothing).

As mentioned above, there are some loose threads when the anime ends. But it's still a good finish, based on the situation. You will not be left totally hanging :)

And you should definately, DEFINATELY see it, it's awesome :D

Also just to add, if I had to label it, I'd say the point where the anime ends is equivalent to being the "Part 1" of the series and everything that happens afterwards should probably be considered "Part 2". Kind of like Naruto to Naruto Shippuden or Dragon Ball to Z.

This story is told in arcs, so like above said it just stops at the point. Though you could probably say that it does have an proper ending. In the end, Gon does fulfill his goal.

Probably should edit that last part out since it's a spoiler for him, Dimitrije1606

It feels like an actual ending, but it's still an incomplete adaptation. Basically, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but a lot of things are left unresolved, and it'll probably get a continuation or another remake in 10 years or so.
