romance anime/manga - MC is lonely/broken/depressed etc etc

looking for a romantic anime or manga (even subtle or hinted is fine) where one of the MC's (either the male or female, or both) is broken, lonely, depressed etc etc...

Preferably with no love triangle and a decent amount of chapters if its a manga
The MC(s) doesnt have to start out like this, its fine if it occurs during the series, basically anything that will give me the feels.

Have you tried sukitte ii na, the story line is a little bit fast moving in the beginning but the chick is kinda emo and lonely with no friends ect. and meets a guy ect.... Otherwise there's Tonari-no Kaibutsu-kun where the characters also don't have many friends and are lonely. Or there's Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru- the main dude is a loner and has a really twisted outlook on high school life (not really romantic but really hilarious in parts :D ) Hope this helps.

Kimi Ga Nozomu Ein - heavy drama. Starts as a triangle, but isn't one for the majority.
5 Centimetres per Second (review) - a melancholic tale about growing up and reality.

+1 (especially N.H.K ni Youkuso! I love this by the way)

Def. Bokura ga ita (manga & anime), not a big fan of heavy drama though. But I find it good and frustrating at some point haha. But it has a love triangle sorry
