Same atmosphere and the same pacing.

The pace and the atmosphere is similar in Serial Experiments Lain, but the location differs. Lain is set in a rather urban or modern society.
but nevertheless, both are kinda dark and mysterious.

Since you only mentioned atmosphere and pacing are episodic shows okay? If so:

Mushishi (completely episodic)
Natsume Yuujinchou (mostly episodic, but chronological)
Kino no Tabi (completely episodic)
Aria the Animation (more lighthearted and not episodic like the others)
I probably regret this post by now.
