This may not have been obvious, I've just noticed this myself a couple days ago, but remember when Kurapika's master said, with his huge nen lecture, that a strong emotion can empower a user to go beyond the 100% cpacity of his category?

Well, the Zero hand is how Netero went beyond his full capacity, which completely drained him, since just like the restriction, or really, the punishment thereafter, it is not favored as it can hurt the user in someway.
"If the heart achieves the correct form, it becomes an emotion, and emotions can be manifested"
This was a callback to said lecture.

Manga readers

It kinda makes sense that an emotion, can strengthen your resolve, in many forms.

There are a couple rules that will be used soon but I will mention them as they come lest I make spoilerish hints.

If I drive for you, you get your money. You tell me where we start, where we're going, where we're going afterwards. I give you five minutes when we get there. Anything happens in that five minutes and I'm yours. No matter what. Anything a minute on either side of that and you're on your own. I don't sit in while you're running it down. I don't carry a gun. I drive.

If we compared it, Zero Hand is similar like Tsunade's Mitotic Regeneration. Basically Netero used up his remaining aura and ended up becoming and old man(in a true meaning). But it seems Zero Hand also aging Netero quickly(maybe to his supposedly actual appearance of 110 old man).

That's her true appearance, he actually lost his energy and became shriveled like that

That form of Netero when he released Zero hand is his true form. All the Nen that was making him feel energetic and youthful was all used up.

No, his true form was pre-zero, Nen helped him stay healthy looking, similar to eating vegetables, not the same as a magical power that retains youth like Biske's. :P

Exhausting his nen deteriorated his state

People age because their nen; their life energy slowly leaks away. People skilled with Nen can keep most of it from leaking away making them age extremely slowly. When Netero used Zero Hand he used all of his nen, making him age by what seems to be 100 years instantly. They were both his true forms, just different age.

No it's not. It's called exercise.

His life energy was all used up so the Nen that was holding his physical body healthy for an old age collapsed.

No, it's been explained that Nen is a life-form that's inside all humans and that certain humans have the ability to compress the life form to make their life-span longer than intended.

I think Netero's Zero hand was a nen contracted technique. He meditated and bulked up for the purpose of fulfilling the requirements of such a technique. It makes more sense to me that way.

i agree with you 100% which is why i dont understand why so many people say how did Gon even get that power it says it in the anime if payed attention to and also Gon is a prodigy him and killua which they dont need to do all the hard work netero did.

Always remember trained talent go's alot further than just training alone
Be It 10 or 1000 Men, The End Result Will Be The Same..
