| I've been using bard's script, but in trying to troubleshoot, I keep running across threads troubleshooting a script that ehrgeiz (or was it shiteiru?? or are they the same person? *boggle*) made. Considering how difficult it was for me to follow bard's script (since I'm in no way a php programmer -- i just dabble occasionally), I'm a little scared to scrap it and start all over with a new script. In your opinion, those of you that have used both scripts (or all 3, since ehrgeiz apparently has two now), which do you think was the easiest to use in the end?? If learning the ehrgeiz script will save me headaches later on, I might make the switch.. but if they're about equal, I can stick to bard's script.. I'm not asking which one is "better", I don't want to pit people against people -- I just want to know, at the end of the day, which one will have me writing php less and watching anime more. =^_^= (yes i know my current sig is a little "rough" .. it's still not quite done..) |

| I'm biased but I'd say Bard's is a better choice, you can use 'my version' since it's a little less scary and actually works out of the box. shiteiru's is dirt simple though but the problem is that it's a little too simple :) The main thing about Bard's is that while it's more complex it has loads more features, so pick your poison. |
| mines the best.... or it would be but it's buggy in places (that my sig doesn't use).... and I like my monopoly on pretty image thumbnails ^.^ I usually use Talon/Niroko's when I make quick ones for others, though I've made some changes to the text formatting to fix a couple things. Bard's script is pretty solid, but it takes a little getting used to. Luckily it's also got the best documentation. It's handy that everything can be done in an xml file so simple sigs don't take long at all. The initial setup needs you to use ftp to change the file permissions on a couple folders, which can be confusing to lazy people, but it's not difficult. I wouldn't use shiteiru's because it is very inefficient... it is potentially taxing for both mal and the server you host it on. It is easy to setup though.... :-/ |

| Sounds like both of you told me what I need to hear. Since I'm already running Bard's and have it functioning properly on my server (albeit not quite formatting how I want yet), and already went through the trouble of getting it to work, I should just stick with it. Thanks! =^_^= saka: My boyfriend and I were both actually admiring the scripting that must have been necessary for your sig. I wouldn't dream of copying it, as it's very unique! |
