| I have been interested in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun for quite a while now but then I found out that it's only kind of a side story to the original Toaru Majutsu no Index (I really love the opening of season II by the way)... now I'm not sure if I should start with Index or Railgun first. Which one is better in your opinion and why? Is it necessary to have watched Index to understand the events of Railgun? Thanks in advance. |

| Logically you should watch Index, Railgun, Index II, then Railgun S but I watched it in the convoluted order of Index II, Railgun, Index, Railgun S and still really enjoyed it :/ I felt like Index I was a lot weaker than the other series so don't let it stop you from watching the rest. |

Yeah Railgun is the side story centering around Misaka, but that doesn't make it any less inferior to the main story. I personally enjoyed the Railgun side stories more but most LN readers seem to like index more so it's a matter of opinions. But Railgun S has the best execution out of all the series so far in my opinion. |

| You should watch Index first. It came out first, and Railgun leaves out a lot, as it assumes you have already seen Index. Index is also the better of the 2, so it has a higher chance of pulling you in and keeping your eyes glued to your screen. |

| Even though I had so much suggestions to start with Index first I started with Railgun, sorry. But nevermind, it's really awesome. The first episode already drew me in. After that I may start with Index and then Railgun S or Railgun S and then Index... depens on the ending of Railgun. But nevermind, I'll watch them both anyway. I really love the setting and the characters. |
