I'm personally a huge Fire Emblem and Tactics Ogre fan. If you like Final Fantasy Tactics you really need to check out the Tactics Ogre games...since FF Tactics is a carbon copy of the series. lol I was looking through my boxed pc games and found another one that I forgot: Disciples II Gold. But it's a bit more like a turn based strategy rpg (complete with "fog of war" and unit fabrication) |

| So I created my first char in skyrim. She's a dark elf necromancer assassin. This isn't some custom build I found. I'm loosely basing it on a character I first started playing about 10 years ago in a MUD I used to play. MUDs are basically text-based MMORPGs. Believe it or not, MUDs existed even before the internet. I took some "photos" of my character. I could probably make a list of my top 30 RPGs...in fact I made a list of my top 30 games of this console generation and had a really hard time with it lol My list is by no means static and is subject to change (Skryim is up there, but we've already talked about that - it should be noted that a majority of my experience with that is actually on 360), so in no particular order... | @night i am talking about dragon age origins. not DA2, that game iispretty bad. DA:O is a pretty solid game that takes you in its universe and wont let you go. Deus Ex 1 is really good. i even think i should put it a bit up on my list. and btw i am surprised you only died once in the first level. deus ex is hard an challanging. but for everything the enemy can do you can counter it. and i do not think you died of poison, i think there was an enemy behind you. happend to me. if it was poison, well then you should have had the medicine to it. just give it another try and download some graphics overhauls |
| So, it looks like I have Dawnguard now. There was some screwup with Steam and a bunch people got it for "free". I'm glad I noticed because I was installing a mod and you have to check whether you have Dawnguard or not. Also, I'm not have any problems with adept (the default difficulty setting) being too easy. I might install a difficulty mod when I finish the game and play through with another character. Here's my top 5 RPGs 1. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 2. Gladius 3. Might and Magic 6 4. Final Fantasy Tactics 5. Skyrim (someone has to mention it) Also with honorable mention Phantasy Star Online - Would have made my top 5 if I had been able to play multiplayer. If all goes well with my hands I will try to play PSO for computer which does have multiplayer Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn - This was a well made game and I give it a lot of props for the voice actors, but it just didn't suck me in like other RPGs Fable - There were a lot of things I liked about this game like the open endedness of character creation and it could have easily made my top 5. There were a lot of things that needed improvement though. Destiny of an Emperor - An RPG for the NES set in ancient China. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind crappy graphics, but it doesn't really hold up to more recent RPGs. Still my favorite RPG for the NES though with Final Fantasy being a close second (which also doesn't hold up to more recent RPGs). |

Yeh I have the GoG.com version. I really like it. Just be aware that more of the "gamey" elements from Amnesia TDD are not present (no sanity meter, no tinder boxes) - but I didn't really care about that and enjoyed the experience. It's quite good if you let yourself get immersed. If you're in the right mindset (ie not constantly complaining about previously mentioned changes), I'd say it's about as scary (I think the story is better written too). |

| I didn't play the original Amnesia, but I watched Pewdiepie play it. It was scary just to watch. I even stopped watching some of the episodes in full screen because it was getting too intense. Of course I scare easily so don't take my word for it that it's scary. One thing brilliant about the fear factor in Amnesia is that it didn't rely overly on jumpscares. It was more slowly building up tension. The custom stories (aka mods) do have a lot of jumpscares which is fine too. There was an interview of one of the developers and he was talking about how if you die a lot in a game it's not as scary so in Amnesia you might go long periods of time without encountering a monster, but when you do it's even more scary because of that. I'm planning on watching Pewdiepie play the new Amnesia also, but that's going to be too stressful now. I've gotten jumpscares playing Skyrim - those damn skeevers! |

| I was going to try to not bring up Skyrim (too much) in this thread, but I just watched Tobuscus play "Taste of Death". I read some of the YouTube comments and a few forum threads. If anyone wants to comment they should probably put in spoilers. Even though a lot of people have already played Skyrim, some people reading this thread might not have. I haven't watched/played a lot of the quests yet myself so I don't want to be spoiled either in regards to certain quests. |

| Has anyone here played Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst for PC? It's free so I'm downloading it as we speak. I'm kind of scared to play any online games after hearing the horror stories in this thread about trollish bitch boy online gamers. There's also a new PSO coming out. PSO 2 is already out in Japan, but it's unclear if it will be available for US although I'm reading it's possible to get some sort of hacked version. There's also a PSO coming out for the new Playstation Vita. We actually had NES when I was a kid, but I knew someone who had the arcade version of pacman at his house. There was also an arcade game called Pac-man adventures or something which was a side scrolling game. I thought arcade games were awesome because that's all there were before I bought an NES. I know there was Atari, but I didn't have one. Some of the first games I bought for my NES were games I initially played in the arcade like Ghosts and Goblins and Ikari Warriors. Those were tough games. I didn't get anywhere near finishing either of those (except with cheat codes). I'm surprised I didn't also buy Gauntlet. |

| Nice song, but I've never played any of the games. I never really got into the Playstation RPGs. I started playing PSO today. I don't think I'm going to try multiplayer until I get the hang of the controls and the game. I did play it a long time ago, but it will take some time getting back into it. |

| have you played san andreas/vice city and GTA 4? if so i can use the comparision to tell you how it play's. I personally hated GTA 4, it was boring to play. no fun at all to go killing random persons or stealing something in the military base. it was toooooooooooooooooooooooo realistic, so much it took away the fun. san andreas and vice city were a lot of fun. GTA 5 feels like san andreas. everything is fun to play again. it is really a sandbox game now where stealing murdering destroying things is your primary goal. the story, well i am not really far, is good. it is a good and fun game, just do not go to the shop thinking this will be the very best game of the era, it is not. there are still some flaws. the graphics are horrible. ect. ect. |
