| I've recently been thinking of trying to get into Lupin III again. My last foray into it did not go too well, so I'm wondering which series I should start with. Or should I start with one of the movies? Or is there something else in the franchise that I should check out first? Any suggestions are appreciated, but please explain your decisions. | Well what did you watch first and what turned you off? And I don't know about the movies, the ones I watched were just average movie or special spin offs, somebody might be able to tell you one that might help you more. It might be that you were stuck in Japan if you watched the first one(at the last episode they leave Japan). To me it gets more interesting in Lupin III part II. He goes all over the world stealing things. |

Well, 1971 version it is. Personally, I was considering starting with Castle of Cagliostro for the same reason you suggested that. I guess I'll give it a shot. And, Introverturtle, I'm guessing that you're suggesting the second series that came out? With that in mind, I guess I'll just watch them in order and see what happens. Thanks to you both. |

I thought it might be that all the heists took place in Japan and were kind of boring. | The original series is probably the best starting point. Other good ones to introduce you to the franchise might be The Castle of Cagliostro and The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. The movies Walther P-38 and The First Contact make good additions to the original series once you have completed it as they provide more backstory. |
