I'm watching but I'm still kind've new to understand all the different genres of anime, would this be considered a psychological anime? I understand it has some themes that may be hard to understand for younger people. I think if I had watched this when I was younger I may not have completely understood what was going on.

Thanks!

it seems to be more near to cyberpunk, or at least it tries..
sure quoting citations instead of talking normally doesn't make the serie much more witty :/

Hmmm... I don't know. An anime where the system in focus deals with the psychological conditions of humans and where psychological references are made, can it be a psychological anime?

I guess the definition for the entire psychological genre is pretty loose and not just split into black and white. It's the nature of the genre though, being that it is about things that make you think in an unusual way.

Thanks for everyones input.

Well, I certainly don't disagree w/ what they put. I do think it most certainly falls along the those genres--especially Cyberpunk (as someone else pointed out), Sci-fi/thiller, such in the vain of GiTS.

Of course, by design of animes that fall into the Cyberpunk genre they do tend to be along the psychological elements and thought-provoking side.

You can add "psychological" to Psycho-Pass' tags. Well, that is the opinion of one psychologist, at least.

I was TALKING about not disagreeing w/ what the pic showed Wiki put.....it was just a general way that I stated it. (aka meaning I agreed w/ the image you posted) <_<

Are you not paying attention to the very image you posted?

Well, there's no romance but you can ship xD.

I think the anime is more philosophical than psychological.

Nah I won't say it's psychological. It's more political/philosophical than psychological. The standpoint from which the show is portrayed is very much third-person. There is not enough depth in each character's personal feelings shown in the show for it to be called psychological. But it can totally be made into a psychological anime if needed. The plot provides enough material for good psychological portrayal. It is a problem of how the story is put to the reader and what the focus of the creator is.

Psycho-pass is probably the best anime I've seen in quite some time, but no it's not really psychological. There are some elements of psychology but the characters tend more to represent broad ideals rather than actual personalities so it can't really get into their psychology. Instead it leans toward the more philosophical and political commentaries.

And for the record I think it's pretty damn close to a masterpiece, but it just misses the mark slightly. Still it's something everyone that's interested in sci-fi, philosophy and human nature should try to watch. It really is quite brilliant in most regards.
