My entire knowledge of baseball has pretty much been picked up from anime. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed Major and Cross Game much more if I knew the rules, One Outs perhaps I would though as a lot of his strategies used rules.

Enjoyed Cross Game for the none sports stuff more I must say.

As stand alone series Major is good but not great, the entire journey is what makes it special.

I really liked S1 and the whole idea that every season kinda skips time a bit, pretty neat idea.

Never heard of Touch actually, will look it up but I really recommend Slam Dunk, both the anime and the manga, whichever you fancy. Or you could watch the anime and finish the last (not aired) arc in the manga, the adaption is pretty faithful to the source so it is pretty easy to just switch.

Don't think you have to like sport to enjoy sports anime. If the characters are good, the drama is enjoyable (during the sport and home parts) and of course the music is good I think anyone can enjoy it.

In general I like most sports so I'll never know if that's true first hand.

Sports, along with mecha, seem to be the genres the Clannad and Steins;Gate redditfags seem to hate on for no apparent reason.
