Are you sure he wasn't there? Damn I didn't even notice xD

I think kite is extremely important for Gons reasons for being a hunter -I think- at least.

Well I've heard that he wasn't even in the beginning of the manga, that they show that meeting later on as a flashback.

And since this adaptation is trying to stay closer to the manga then it makes sense that he wouldn't be in there.

Whilst the 2011 is pretty much on par to source, I would have preferred if they did show Kite at the beginning as
...I don't mind how the new series is going but I can see why a lot of people are comparing the newer version to the older one with contempt. After catching up to the recent episodes of the current version, I just don't feel the emotions portrayed as well as I did with the older version. By the time they show Kite, he will most likely have an episode in flashbacks as well as few episodes of start of new ant arc but IMO it will not give as much an impact as what the older version would have provided going by the manga(as the manga didn't leave much of an impression of him except being a new character IMO).

Kite wasn't the first thing you see in the first chapter but the flashback of the meeting is done pretty early on in the first chapter.

Kite didn't reappear for 180 chapters, Madhouse is just holding of his appearance to make him more relative in HxH. I was upset that they didn't show him but we'll see how they'll handle his appearance. There is no way this anime is going to catch up to the manga if he doesn't appear any time soon.

What? He was the very first character to appear in the series. The FIRST. Before Gon.
That's pretty iconic >.>

My bad

I said I've heard, I think it was the noonealive guy, when he was in another thread, I must have misread. My bad again.

And if he was the first person in the manga I believe he should have been in the beginning of the anime. I think he would stay in the back of people's minds until he was revealed later in the story.

Since there was a heavy censorship at the beginning, I thought they removed him to not show what happened to him. At least we can see his silhouette in the opening?

I don't care anymore. they probably all know who Kite is by now anyway.

so as to my opinion, I think it wasn't a terrible terrible they-ruined-everything move, especially since I didn't care at all (basically didn't even realize) that MH didn't show him at the beginning. But the more I thought about it after I read some (a lot) of complaints/questions, I sorta wished they put the stuff revolving around him where they were supposed to go (if they followed the manga to a T). But I'm also okay with how they handled it without including him too, so it doesn't make me extremely mad or euphoric either.

I think it would've been better if Madhouse dropped hints about his existence and of how he played a part in Gon's past rather than erasing everything about him completely. I mean, Madhouse could've just showed small, silent blips of Gon and Kite together throughout the show when it was appropriate...

The Whale Island section actually would've been ideal for that, especially since they could've stretched it out and explain Gon's past without making it seem out of place since they were talking about Ging anyway.

Gah, I'm beginning to think that they're going to give an adequately made flashback about how Gon and Kite met and tweak the details quite a bit (in other words, filler) so that Kite doesn't seem forced...at least, that's what I'm hoping for cause otherwise Kite's appearance is going to be a a major "what the crap" moment for me if they just follow the manga at this point...

why did madhouse rush through the beginning if they are trying to stay as close to the manga as possible ?

^I think they've dismissed that idea by now. Or they just meant they weren't going to add entire filler arcs and such.

Come on. Kite first appeared on the first chapter, then appeared next on the 185th. He wasn't even mentioned much before that :P

Sure, Kite is close to Gon, but a flashback episode would suffice in establishing that closeness. It's not that big of an issue, AS LONG AS Madhouse inserts that flashback episode in a not-so-awkward way.

(I accidentally clicked 'Yes'. *facepalm*)
