I've been cruising through Texhnolyze, and I think the thing I like best about it is that you don't have people yapping in your ear for the full 20 minutes ;). The first episode had 30, maybe 40 words of dialogue, and it's one of my favorite in the series.

I'm looking for something like that, a cure for the expository chatter that so often plagues sci-fi/fantasy anime.

And Nekojiru-sou.

I can't remember Pale Cocoon having too much dailogue either.

Seconding Nekojiru-sou. Plenty of animated shorts have little to no dialogue like some episodes of Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond, Sweat Punch (especially Kigeki/Comedy), Tsumiki no Ie, etc. You'll have more luck looking at shorts and OVA's than at series.

Kurozuka lacks dialogue, though not much more than other anime.

Kaiba. Some episodes have alot of dialogue, but equally it has several episodes almost entirely told with visuals only. The protagonist is largely silent throughout actually.

Try Mushishi maybe, it's not free of dialogue but it also indulges in a very minimalistic approach to sound overall with soothing music and calm talking, very un-anime-like.

Seconding Angel's Egg, Pale Cocoon, Serial Experiments Lain, Kaiba, Cat Soup and Tsumiki no Ie. Yep I love this theme it makes for some very atmospheric and moving scenes.

Oh and Texhnolyze is truly outstanding there is nothing quite like it. If you haven't finished the series yet get ready, the last 5 episodes are gripping. Perhaps my favorite ending from any anime so far! :P
