A small, quaint shrine situated in deep in the Untamed Land. Here lives the wise Sage of En Corvis who spends his days answering the questions of the curious visitors who frequent the shrine. The only ones currently living at this shrine are the Sage himself and his housekeeper/bodyguard who only lets through those she judges trustworthy enough to meet the Sage. This shrine is almost universally considered a sanctuary and any fighting within its borders is swiftly dealt with. |

Its a calm, peaceful day; sunny with a light breeze, and not too hot either. A prefect time to relax and enjoy myself. I haven't had any visitor lately, though my version of "lately" may be somewhat different than yours, and I really have nothing to do. I feel as though my sense of time is getting even worse and worse as days are seeming shorter and shorter. Thankfully I now have someone to bring some excitement into this indolent lifestyle of mine, Eria. I watch as my cute little bodyguard goes about her daily ritual of sweeping the leaves off of the long stone path leading to my shrine with a broom all too big for her tiny body. A Sisyphean task as the wind simply blows more and more leaves onto the path but she didn't seem at all bothered as she simply swept them away once again, but it fills me with a strange kind of joy seeing how hard working she is. I call out to her and she responds with a bright, toothy grin full of canine like fangs. She runs over to me, her sandals clacking against the ground and with stars in her eyes and asks me "Saki, is it time to eat?". I pat her an the head with give her a gentle smile and tell her, "Aye, I'll make something for you right away". Are you surprised someone as lazy as me can cook? I've picked up quite a bit of skills in this lifetime, cooking just happened to be one of them and even though I have no need to eat I do enjoy my meals with Eria. We enjoyed a simple meal of meat and vegetables and I happily watched Eria devour the meat with like a carnivore devouring its prey. |

A powerful gust of wind blew throughout the area, and there appeared, Zelphine, Kaguya, and Raikon. The Three Guardians. Zelphine and Kaguya began walking towards the Shrine's entrance. |

"Oh? It seems we've some guests," I say to Eria as I finish my plate of food. I was enjoying my meal so much it seems I failed to notice them approaching. It seems Eria has noticed as well as she quickly finished off her third plate of food and rushed out to the entrance of the shrine to greet them. With a single bound Eria landed atop the Torii at the top of the stairs leading to the Shrine and stared down at our guests. I certainly recognized them, they were two of the Guardians of whats now known as the Cursed lake, but they were from a time long before Eria's so there's no way she knew who they were. "Halt, Myths... state your business with the Sage leave if you harbor any ill intent lest you incur the wrath of the great Howling God!". Your efforts to look intimidating never fails to be cute Eria, but it would have worked better if you didn't have food on your face... |

Kaguya and Zelphine smiled. "Hello there, young one," Zelphine said. Kaguya looked bewildered. "Was she here the last time we visited?" Zelphine laughed. "No dear brother. She was not." He turned his attention towards Eria. "We are here to discuss some things with an old friend...oh..and you've got a little something on your chin there." He said, pointing. |

Eria quickly wiped the food off of her reddening face with her sleeves upon hearing Zelphine. Hey now... that Kimono was expensive you know? Custom made and enchanted by the Mages of Searea don't go using it as a napkin. "A-at least introduce yourselves first!" she said to the guardians still trying to keep her persona up, albeit poorly. |

Zelphine laughed. "Your childishness lifts my spirits in such dark times, young one. Very well. I am Zelphine. This is my brother Kaguya. Coming up behind us is the youngest of us, Raikon. You may know of us if you've read old En Corvis lore and history books." |

"Hmph, I don't read such boring stuff. Saki tells me all I need to know about history," Eria responds proudly. You know you really shouldn't be so proud of that, even I don't know everything about the past. Eria spun around and faced the inner courtyard, turning her back to our guests, "... You can go in... Saki's inside the shrine". Oh? I looks like she decided to let them in. Well now, that was much quicker than I'd been expecting. Usually she'd ask for some meat in exchange for entrance, the little glutton. I am relieved she didn't try to pick a fight though, even in her area of influence where she access to her godly powers there's no way she'd be able to repel three guardian spirits at once. Then I'd have to intervene and that's a whole mess of trouble I'd rather not go through. |

Zelphine laughed as he made his way up the stairs, followed by Kaguya. It had been a long time since they had seen the Sage, thousands of years in fact. They walked through the inner courtyard and approached the doors of the shrine. Kaguya looked back down the stairs at Raikon, who was taking his time. "Do hurry up, we haven't got all day, brother." |

I sat casually in the greeting and calmly waved to the three guardians as they walked in. "Well, well. Now this is a surprise. Its been quite some time since I've seen you lot... so? Whats up?" I ask them, taking a puff from my pipe. Of course I already knew what they were here for, they seek information on the phenomenon that has corrupted their home. I didn't really need to ask but I'm rather bored right now so you can't blame me for wanting a bit of conversation now can you? |

Zelphine smiled. "Surely you know, old friend. Times have changed, and the island seems to be in a predicament. According to the Fade King, Corruption is beginning to spread into the real world...What do you know about this?" |

I let out a sigh along with a cloud of smoke and stared at the three guardians. Well, I wasn't exactly staring at them, rather I was gazing into the distance. Far, far away. "What do I know about the Corruption... I know quite a bit about it. I watched it spread to your lake while you slumbered," I said casually, knowing that my comment would likely anger the guardians. It was the truth though, I did nothing to stop the spread of the Corruption. Or rather... I couldn't. I'm not allowed to interfere too much with the working with the island. What I'm about to do is pushing it quite a bit. "Let me ask you a question now... If I told you that stopping the corruption was beyond your power what would you do?" |

Kaguya's temper flared. "You did nothing?! The least you could have done was wake us up you little sh-" Zelphine interrupted. "Peace! Now is not the time for such things." He sighed, turning back to Murasaki. "We are the guardians. We have protected the humans and myths for centuries. If no amount of our abilities could stop such Corruption...then are we truly guardians? We have watched over this island for many years. We have seen peace, and war. Death. and life." Kaguya had calmed down, and he spoke firmly. "If the corruption was beyond our power, then I would sacrifice myself. My death would give Zelphine the power he would need to continue protecting this place after I am gone. We were always powerful as a duo, but as one, I do not believe that there would be nothing we could do, even if it was to simply slow down the progress of the Corruption." Zelphine nodded. "We will always protect the humans and myths. Even to death." |

I laughed heartily at their answer. What a fabulous answer that was. I suppose that's what makes them Guardians, one could not hold a vigil for nearly two millenniums without such will power. "Splendid!" I said loudly and happily as I grabbed my sword and slammed the kojiri of my sword into the tatami and got to my feet, "Very, well. Come friends, I've something to show you". I gestured for them to follow as I made my way to the courtyard out in front of my shrine, patting Eria on the head on my way out. She'd been watching us from the doorway the entire time, trying to be sneaky but I'm sure the guardians noticed her right away. "So how much do you already know? Or did that old bag of bones not tell you anything and just dump you lot on me?" I asked them, half joking, half serious. |

Kaguya and Zelphine followed, smiling at Eria as they walked out. "Uhm..he said something about the greed of humans, I believe." Kaguya responded. "Yes, he did. According to Morpheus, the Corruption came to be when the Humans entered into the Fade with their bodies." Zelphine nodded, deep in thought. "According to him, the problem has increased over the years. I wonder if that means humans are getting more greedy, or if their is just a greater amount of humans now.." "I suppose both, brother. More humans would mean more greed, wouldn't it?" "Possibly..." |

"I see, I see. You've got the beginning part right," I tell them as I rest my hands on the Kashira of my blade, "though your taking the greed thing a bit far. I like to think of it more as human curiosity. Much like the mages, they seek more and more knowledge... even if they need to tread on the feet of god. Quite admirable don't you think?". I too did the same once upon a time, so I can't really get mad at the humans for traveling to the Fade in their physical forms. "The corruption isn't spreading because of Humans... they aren't poison that much I can assure you. The Well of Souls became corrupted upon their entering the Fade... Old man Morpheus knows all this but I wonder why he didn't tell you?" I ask them in a way that implies that I already knew the answer to my question, then I held out my hand, slowly extending my fingers. Floating in my palm was a small black flame with a white aura... a seed of the corruption, "Do you know what this is?" I ask them with a casual smile. |

"Come now... surely you feel the malevolence coming from this little fire. There little things manifest into our world and turns anything it touches into twisted, feral versions of itself," I tell them as I roll the flame between my fingers, "It was a seed just like this one that turned your lake into what it is today". |

Kaguya nodded, staring at it with wide eyes. Zelphine sighed. He'd already known what it was, but for whatever reason, Kaguya hadn't. He probably just forgot. He stepped forwards. "Yes, I am well aware. Continue with your explanation.." |

"I'll cut to the chase then," I said placing the Seed into a tiny wooden box with several protection talismans plastered onto it, "If you truly wish to to stop the Corruption you have two options: Either sever the ties the Fade has with this world or fight your way through the sea of Corruption around the Well of Souls and purify it. While both are nearly impossible I suggest going for the latter as cutting the connection the fade has with this world would have terrible repercussions". |

Kaguya stared blankly. "Fight? Oh man... It's been a long time. I'm pretty rusty.." Zelphine laughed. "Ha, Kaguya. You fool." He turned to Marusaki. "I was originally going to attempt to avoid violence, but, if it's come to that, then so be it. The Fade does still have it's positive uses after all. We wouldn't want to sever ties with such a force." |

"Getting there won't be easy," I told the Guardians as I gestured Eria, who'd been watching us from the shrine's front entrance. She skipped over to my side and I bent down to whisper something into her animal like ears on top of her head. She nodded with a toothy smile and began to hop down the stairs leading down to the Untamed Land, but not before sticking her tongue out at the Guardians. I laughed at the cute, albeit childish, gesture and turned my attention back to them. "The barrier around the Well of Souls is a powerful one, not even my eye's can see past the thing. Do you, three guardian deities of some corrupted lake, truly believe you can stop that which that bag of bones Morpheus, the Fade King, can barely contain?", I know I'm being rather harsh with them but its true. "Maybe you should worry about purifying that lake of yours before you go rushing off on a suicide mission". |

Kaguya was silent. He eyed Zelphine, and they made silent eye contact. They had both been sensing auras approaching the Shrine, and neither of them liked the way it made them feel. Zelphine was silent for a while longer, then responded. "Perhaps we will all die. But I will not idly stand by and do nothing. It is truth that our powers are no longer what they once were, but our hearts have done nothing if not grow stronger. I have my determination; my resolve. If we cannot do it alone as us three, then perhaps we need to find others that are willing to aid our cause. Now then...Marusaki...should we greet the newcomers?" |

"I sent my cute little gatkeeper ahead to greet them already. Though I'm sure you could tell that already," I said with a smile as I walked back to my shrine, "I'm going to take a nap. I wish you luck in finding some help! Try the Mages or Humans! They're pretty damn good at breaking the rules of nature!". My sword, Musashi, could probably dispel the barrier around the Well of Souls fairly easily but I'm bound by a rather strict set of rules. Annoying things, but I suppose this is a sort of retribution for my past sins... eternity as a spectator. |

As I sat in the shrines greeting room I drew my blade about half way out of its scabbard and most of the remaining miasma began to dissipate. Quite the handy thing, this blade, can't tell you how many times its saved me. Eria ran into the room and hid behind my back, gripping the back of my Yukata and eyeing the entrance with an angry look in her eye's. I re-sheathed my sword and placed it back at my side as I waited for our troublesome "guest" to arrive while I pat Eria on the head. |

Elise slowly walked toward the shrine's gretting room, completely ignoring both the guardian spirits beside her. Her mind was on other things now, she had no time to just greet them formally. She slowly walked until she got on the room. She oppened the door and looked inside, seeing Murasaki with her bright blue eyes. She walked inside slowly and sat on the floor in a formal japanese style. She bowed formally as she calmly looked down. When she got back up she speaked. "Sincerely, you were not what I... expected." She told him slowly as she eyed the little girl behind him. "Don't worry, I'm no threat for as long as I receive what I want." She told them as she grinned. Her grin beared a light malevolence even though she was smiling brightly. |

Kaguya and Zelphine noticed Elise. So that's who it was. Kaguya thought. "Come Zelphine. It is time. We have never split or left each other's side, but the time has come. We shall find powerful mages and myths if we split up. I trust you to use your mind on this one. I will leave for Alteia City. You search the Untamed Lands.." "Are we allowed to use force to get someone to come with us?" Zelphine shook his head. "No. But if they are against our cause to protect the humans and other myths, we shall eliminate them. Our souls are intertwined, so if you fall, I will be aware. I wish you the best." Zelphine disappeared into the air. Kaguya left on foot until he found a puddle, which he disappeared into. |

I sighed at her thinly veiled threat and scratched the back of my head. These kinds of people are always stressful to deal with, Eria agreed with me as she growled at Elise from behind my back. "Go on..." I said rotating my wrist in a kind of 'hurry up' gesture. Honestly... that man has raised quite a troublesome daughter, far too irresponsible with the power she wields. |

Elise expressed her light annoyance at Murasaki's gesture. One that she did not appreciated. "Oi... I'm here being gentle to you people and you are mocking me?" She questioned him with a lightly more serious tone of voice. "Well, since my time is limited. I want you to tell me about what is going to happen if Corruption is not stopped." She went straight to what she wanted to know. If what she imagined was correct, the Corruption meant the end of the world as they knew it. |

"Let me stop you right there," I said holding my hand out, the universal 'stop' sign "Why did you come to me with this information? Surely you must know that I cannot do anything to help stop it, save give others a bit of a nudge in the right direction" I explain with a bit of a distant expression, to be honest even I want to go out there and resolve incidents every now then and if I could I'd go over and kick that old bag of bones' ass and tell him to get his shit together. We made quite the tag team back during my wilder days. |

Elise smiled. "You might not be able to do anything but I am." She said with a smile that didn't seemed to fit her. A smile that could be translated into 'I can save anyone'. She was very serious about this. Just because some corruption was around that did not meant that she was just going to sit back as some bastard tried to destroy her only chance of finding the one who played with her. "If you help me, I help you. That's all I'm asking for. Oh, can I also ask where is my beloved?" She asked calmly, inclining her body foward just to expose her cleavege on purpose. A game she used to play. |

"Your beloved?" I asked, slightly perplexed. I was aware that she had a long lost lover but he didn't really stick in my mind for some reason. "I'm sure I could find him but I can't seem to recall his face... you wouldn't happen to have picture of him on you would you?". I know I'm being awfully accommodating to this person but the fact that I couldn't remember this persons face bothered me so much I didn't really care. Is my memory going in my old age? Eria was still glaring at Elise from behind my back but was being rather quiet for the most part. |

Elise's expressions quickly changed. She was now more serious than flirtartious and her smile disappeared to be replaced with a scowl. "Well, he looked like a young man during my time. As far as I remember he fought on the wars. I don't a picture since we were not able to see each other so much. He was facing the myths for the humans after all, and he was a huge asset for them. He had a black long hair at the time. Unfortunately, I can't remember much." She told him with a very serious expression. However, the serious air around her quickly changed when she weared the smirk of a child. "So, do you know anyone like that?" She asked clamly while tilting her head cutely. Those who saw her like this wouldn't even believe that she is actually a demon. |

Do I know anyone like that? Well yes... that would be me. She just described me. Of course, it can't be me whom she's talking about because I'd certainly remember- "Didn't you just describe Saki?" Eria says from behind me, picking up on what I'd noticed too but didn't want to say, making me facepalm. I can't believe she actually said it. "Hmph! Saki would never love someone like you!" she said sticking her tongue out at her. There were plenty of people fitting the description she gave in the war so why did I think it was me she was talking about... Hmm... I placed my hand on my chin in thought. Is there something wrong with my memories? |

Elise's childish smile kept itself there, now with a tint of sorrow. "Indeed you are right. However, the man I met did not loved me. Instead, I loved him very much but he only cared about the war. Sadly, he got away from me to fight." Elise said, sighing as she remembered about it. Her expressions changed slightly to a much more saddened when she began to talk more about it. "That foolish man, running away to fight. Well, I guess he did wanted to end the war as soon as possible, but couldn't he just send me a letter or something like that?" She implied with a slightly more sad voice. However, once more, her expressions changed to a more childish one. She yawned off at such a boring situation. |

"An unrequited love? My condolences." I said, trying my best to shrug off the weird feeling I'm getting, "Lets just put aside the matter of finding this mysterious beloved of your for now and focus on the Corruption for now". "Thank you, Saki, I can call you like that, right?" She questioned with a slightly happy smile. She felt lightly familiar with this name for some reason. "Well... I want to help in any way I can to finish Corruption once and for all. If my help is not enough, I can promise the help of the entire Demon Kingdom." She announced as she yawned and strecthed. She was feeling quite lazy but she couldn't let that throw her down. She gave Murasaki her best smile and prepared herself for her next sentence. "So... Please let me help!" She said, clapping her hands together and bowing lightly. |

I rested my chin on my hand and gave Elise a wry smile, "Of course you can help. You don't need this old mans permission, Princess. Actually, the Guardians of the Lake came here not too long ago with the same mission in mind. You should try to catch up with them," I suggested, turning my attention to Eria and patting her on the head. "If you ever need to enter the Fade come see me. I'll make sure to watch over your body," I said to Elise, though my attention still on my cute Bodyguard. Elise looked up slowly. "Th-Thank you, Saki." She said with soft smile. She averted her face from Murasaki and started to think about things. Thinking better, how would you defeat something like Corruption? Wasn't it just the infection of the souls in the Well of Souls? As long as Elise knews, the entire world could be affected by this but the Fade was already having it's problems. "S-Saki... How is the Fade? Is it bad there?" She questioned, not looking toward him. |

Oi, oi... whats with the sudden demure personality... well whatever, "I can't really say... I haven't been there for quite a while" I told her as I lit my pipe. Oh, and by 'quite a while' I mean, like, twenty to thirty years. I inhaled deeply a blew out a cloud of purple smoke, "Last I remember... Hmm... Morpheus was barely keeping the corruption at bay. Seeing as how its now leaking into the real world I'm assuming his grip on the situation is starting to slip. That, or he's getting lazy... assume the former," I told her as I emptied the ashes from my pipe. |

Elise did not responded very well. Instead she slowly turned her eyes to Masaraki and stared at him for some moments. "You know, you're also getting lazy, aren't you?" She questioned him in a slight joking tone. She wanted to stay here a little more. She didn't knew exactly why but here she felt a light peace. Peace she rarely had on her life. Even now things were not peaceful and she had just got rid of the war and her family. Her smile was slightly sorrowful as she talked with him. |

"Heh... maybe your right. Perhaps this indolent life style has made me a bit apathetic," I said as I turned my head, looking outside into the distance. This shrine is a sanctified place. A place of peace. Maybe that's why I seem to have no sense of urgency towards the dire situation. "You can be as lazy as you want Saki!" Eria suddenly said, snapping me out of a daydream, "I'll take care of you forever!". |

Elise's expressions stiffed. She was very serious this time. "Don't think that spoiling him would just make the situation worse? He already has no sense of urgency for not looking into the Fade to try and solve this. Spoiling him will only cause things to get worse and then, when he finally decides to do something, the Corruption will already be knocking on his door." She said, turning her head to the same place he was looking. What he saw differed from him, she saw the place where she met her beloved. Where was he now? Was he already dead? Was he corrupted? She couldn't stop thinking about it now that she discovered more about it. "Saki... I'm pretty sure you want to protect that girl, right? If that's so, you should protect your world... She is not immortal like you." Elise said, getting up and bowing to Murasaki. She turned herself and went towards the exit. There was no time to be spared. She knew what she had to do. |

I couldn't help but burst out in laughter at Elise's words, "Haha! How long has it been since someone has actually scolded me?" I said to myself, holding my stomach as I watched Elise walk away. Everyone who's come here is usually so uptight and formal or overly flatters me to earn my favor. For someone to have the guts to openly express their annoyance with me is very refreshing. "S-Saki?" Eria said nervously as I stood up and gently patted her on the head.
