Synopsis

Konoha Satou has a dark history. After all, she spent her teen years writing self-indulgent fantasy romance fics-like her Dark History. But since she's become its most despicable villainess, remembering every last detail is now a matter of life-and-death. Having avoided the first couple of death flags, Satou's suddenly left in the dark when a mysterious stranger returns from the Lily Kingdom-a character she doesn't recall writing in the original script. Although Yomi claims to be her ally, can Satou really trust a character she knows nothing about in such a dangerous world?

Episode 1

Not exactly being isekaied as the villainess of some otome game, but it's close enough as this is from the world of Konoha Sato's imagination that could have become an otome game had she decided to submit this to a game company than just toss it into the closet. Now as Iana, she tries to kick her villainess label to become somebody respectable, and she starts by saving her sister, named after herself when she was a Japanese high schooler, and her boyfriend Gino from her evil uncle. But everything gets thrown off course with the introduction of an original character in Sol. Not a bad start, but given that it's the low-budget Deen animating this that you might occasionally get something good, but for the most part it's not going to turn out well.

Episode 2

It's onto a ball that Iana attends in chapter three of her fanfic, and wary about Sol, who ends up killing Iana in the original story, he instead ends up saving her after the mansion is set ablaze. Iana didn't bother to go to the Obon festival seeing that she would rather stay inside, but a ball is a much different experience, one she embraces. She tries hard to stop Konoha from dancing seeing that her survival apparently depends on it, but in the end she gets a hug from her as Konoha really cherishes her sister, something she didn't anticipate happening. Iana sure is trying to play things by the book, but of course this was something she thought she had buried a long time ago.

Chapter two; Kidnapped by the Carnal Beast..... oof this girl had a lot going on in her head as a kid. I kind of appreciate how chaotic the events are because of it

The OP isn't shy about pointing out all the hot guys are pretty much the same guy with different hair colour. She clearly had a type back then

"Dark History" (literally black history) is a common euphemism -- in anime at least -- meaning someone's embarrassing past self. Usually when someone was chuunibyou in school or something like that and looks back at that period as their 'dark past'.

Episode 3

And Iana is trying hard like Bakarina in order to avoid raising death flags knowing full well that Sol is bad news for her, all while Yomi is after Konoha's life that throws things in a flux. So on the night Sol is supposed to kill Iana, she comes up with a plan to let him know that she values Konoha as her big sister by pretending to be her so that Yomi attacks Iana and not Konoha to let her feelings be known that she values Konoha and Sol very much. Though Sol and Yomi are still determined to kill each other, which would also be bad for Iana. So now Iana is doing what she can to try and avoid a bad end seeing that these butlers aren't getting along even if she and Konohar are doing so.

lol We are basically seeing a spirally butterfly effect in action, all springing from Iana not dying in chapter 1.

Some names notes: Most of the characters have chuunibyou names.

Konoha Magnolia; Konoha means 'a leaf' but it's also MC's old name. Magnolia is of course a large flowering tree.
Iana Magnolia; don't have a direct translation but sounds like iyana, meaning 'an unpleasant one'
Ginoford Dandelion; Not sure about the Ginoford part.
Sol Nemophila; Probably related to the sun as he's the apparent main love interest (in retrospect) and has yellow hair. Nemophila is a kind of flower.
Yomi Blacksarena; Yomi can be the underworld and imply darkness, Sarena or Serena are terms related to angelonia flowers.

The cast list on MAL shows some yet to be introduced characters who also have flowery names.

Episode 4

Somebody puts poison in Iana's tea and knowing that this might happen that she knocks the teacup. This leads to Yomi challenging Sol to a duel, which for Iana is a bad thing as no matter who wins the duel, Iana will be a suspect. Seeing that these two mean to kill each other and that Sol has an injured hand after he picked up the shattered teacup that Yomi takes up the sword to duel Yomi instead. Once again, Iana is trying to do whatever she can to avoid all the death flags as so many have been raised.

I'm guessing her friends threw in 10 yen coins as offerings and she only threw in 5 yen, guessing it's making her out to be a cheapskate.,,but from reading up, 5 yen is considered lucky to offer and 10 yen is unlucky

Episode 5

Iana sees firsthand jost how strong Sol is seeing that she tries to wield his sword to fight Yomi, but it's too heavy for her petite figure to handle. Even so, Yomi forfeits the duel wanting to fall in love with her and protect her from Konoha. Which of course is not good for Iana as no matter what she does, Yomi won't back down. And after that, Iana falls ill that gives Yomi free reign to try and kill Konoha himself, as well as for him to try and seduce Iana or something, though it only goes as far as a forehead-to-forehead fever check. There's only so much a sick girl can do, but at least she got a chance to speak with the boys.

The text they didn't translate on screen was the same said aloud in dialog. When Iana narrates to herself she seems to write it out also.

I am guessing we are to believe that her mom in the previous life did not approve of her writing? Not sure why, seems her stories were tame enough, unless she was writing all kinds of 50 Shades of Grey stuff in them that is not being hinted at in the anime.

Unfortunately, Iana spends way too much time on internal monologue, including at times when she needs to do something. It dominates each scene so much that there isn't much time left for good dialogue between characters.

Episode 6

This goes to show just how great a character Konoha is to everybody else and how despised Iana is as she heads out to the castle town. And then there's the police officer Cheneau who is bound to get Iana arrested seeing that he did so before on suspicion of murdering her. And now, Iana has triggered another death flag as all the pretty ladies in town have been vanishing and suspicion points at Iana even though she didn't do anything to them. Then there's the lady Menoa who unlike the other ladies at the party, is apparently not from nobility. Iana sure has a lot of problems on her hand, and while Konoha herself is not one of them, she's got a ton of worshippers while Iana has almost none and that itself raises a death flag.

I wonder what the possibility is that Amaryllis is behind the kidnappings, like draining them of their beauty or something

This woman's younger self was a right menace

Greylurker said:

supposedly inspired by a woman in her neighborhood. Does that mean the woman was a lesbian, or that she was attracted to the woman?

Well she did have an interest in both BL and GL.

I expect a key driver though was not wanting any competition for the male harem or anything that would take attention away from the self-insert being the focus of everyone's world.

Episode 7

After taking a break and speaking with Menoa, Iana puts on her villainous face to try and deflect suspicion, but that fails. It's a good thing Konoha distracted the crowd, while Sol got Iana out of there, having to take a cold shower. And then Menoa goes missing with Suselina accusing Iana for causing her disappearance as her security force detains her for questioning. While Iana claims to find Menoa's earring with the intent to give it back to her, that didn't exonerate her and as long as the investigation continues, all eyes are squarely on Iana, which is not a good thing seeing that she knows that Suselina is the culprit, and that her sister is next. Quite a tough situation she is in realizing that the culprit is none other than the one person the security force will never betray, which is just the last thing that Iana needed.

Episode 8

Iana makes her escape, but bumps into Cheneau again. She makes a deal with Cheneau to find the culprit and if her hunch is wrong about the culprit being in the basement of the estate, then Iana will be arrested. And her hunch is right, but before they could enter they are knocked out and chained by Amaryllis as she has kidnapped the girls and shackles them, making them her sex dolls or something terrible. She was about to add Iana to her collection while seducing Cheneau, whose sister is among those kidnapped, but they are fighting back. Cheneau tells Iana to get help after being stripped down to her underwear, but she came back. That Amaryllis sure is a nasty lady to deal with and can easily charm others so that she can get away with whatever, but Iana knows everything and is ready to fight back.

This is proving to be more fun than I figured it would be.
Iana shifting from just flailing about, trying not to be a victim of her past teen-angst, to becoming a more proactive ....not villainess but, anti-heroine maybe... is actually kind of fun.

Episode 9

Iana sure went far and beyond to try and get Amaryllis brought to justice, and the Hydrangea unit came in to clean up the mess. This is all thanks to Konoha awakening her saint powers ahead of schedule and she used her intuition to locate Amaryllis and her victims. Then Amaryllis tries to kill herself with poisoned wine, but Iana stops that before it happens. But while she's in the clear, Sol has been supercharged and now she has to watch her back from him. And while Amaryllis didn't take her life there, she did end up killing herself after that. So with one problem solved, another one just popped up and it didn't help that the person she took down ended up killing herself after that.

Episode 10

Iana and Konoha are brought to Daisy Lake to meet an elf guy Shukuna, and it was a bumpy ride to get there. The elves live in a village humans are forbidden from entering. And with Iana determined to protect Konoha from the story seeing that she has already awakened her saint powers, Iana ventures into a forbidden area with Yomi and Sol to the tomb of the vampire. There, she sees that somebody as killed there, and in a methodical manner. And there, she finds the weapon that caused the bloodshed, which looks quite familiar. Whatever it is, something is amiss here, all while Konoha is going far and beyond knowing that the story has changed.

Episode 11

Just when it looked like Iana had it all figured out when dealing with vampires, she's in for a surprise as it turns out that Shukuna is a vampire himself, and not only that but is a devout follower of the vampire king. She gets blindsided by him as Shukuna sucks her blood from behind while her guard was down, and realizing what just happened, Iana can only think about keeping her distance from Sol not wanting to turn him into a vampire seeing that she loses all reason and restraint once she fully emerges as a vampire. But Sol doesn't stay away, and that has her saying that the most important thing is Konoha's blood, exactly the stuff a villainess would say that sets things in motion for Sol to act and killer her just like in her fanfic. Quite a bad situation she got herself into thanks to Shukuna's complete loyalty to the vampire king as he's out to turn Konoha into a vampire and have her under his control. One more episode left to go.
