Does anyone know why they were speaking in third person?

I’ve noticed that the shadows have always been speaking in third person saying there own names for example (this is all made up and not a direct quote from the series) “Kate loves John so much” but it would be Kate saying it. Anyways I really wanted to understand the meaning behind this because there always has to be. They wouldn’t be doing this for no reason. Everyone please remember your English literature days to help me understand this hahaha.

Yeah totally! It’s such a good anime. That mysterious vibe and dark atmosphere are just too good. It’d be a shame if we never get a continuation.

I could point out that's it actually quite common in Japan to speak like that. mostly girls do it to be cute but if you watch alot of anime or Japanese shows/movies you'll notice that (unless you're going dub) it's basically saying (and usually translated as) "I... yada yada"

I did watch both seasons but idk I still didnt understand why. Was it just cuz it wasn’t there actual name?

I’m a bit worried since there’s still no news about season 3. I hope they haven’t dropped the anime.
