Do you think your youtube feed is mostly the same stories repeated over and over again by multiple creators?

I follow a lot of gaming/news/anime channels and I tend to notice a cycle where my feed is full of different people making the same type and concept of video over again.

I guess that is to be expected with Nintendo direct reactions, but it also applies to political and anime stuff too.

Do you have this sense of content deja vu in your feed? How bad is it?

How do you decide which youtubers you watch to a given story. Do you chose to watch multiple of the same story by different people?

Ehh not really.

Like if I were to describe my youtube homepage it would mostly be:

-grunge/goth/vocaloid/nightcore/jpop songs.

-bunch of true crime videos

-some animation youtubers (mostly uhh brewstew, gradeaundera, emirichu and jyuna right now to name a few.)

-some gaming youtubers (mostly poofesure, flamingo/albertsstuff and polarcub to name a few) (Though I honestly hate how flamingo deleted his old, slightly edgier videos on his albertsstuff channel, bc now I have to watch reuploads of them) ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ LIKE I LITERALLY MISS HIS OLD VIDEOS SM BEFORE THE STUPID YOUTUBE DEMONETIZATION POLICIES, anyways...

-some geography/history related videos

-A few commentary youtubers like tommynfg and stuff.

-And finally the occasional miscellaneous videos from certain youtubers like idk, vsauce or nhk world japan for example.

Yeah that's my youtube feed, I honestly don't use youtube that much anymore so my feed basically never changes, but I don't really have the problem you have with like repetitiveness and stuff.

I know they recently implemented a hype system. A lot of my fav content creators do not upload anymore, and copyright being stricter now than ever made certain content like abridged stuff a thing of the past.

When it comes to gaming topics yeah, everybody rushes to get those clicks as soon as they can.

A lot of the announcement culture I see is like that. Same with reviews when they are sponsered.

Yes, for the most part at least, but occasionally there's something I haven't heard of yet.
No, this isn't my signature.

Nah as I only watch a few channels and all of them have a different motif to them.

This only happens to me with true crime shit but then it's more about different people making videos about the same case and I haven't seen too often videos being done too close to each other time wise

Today my sub feed seems to be a lot of "Nintendo prices are greedy" content. Not that I disagree, but 6 different youtubers covered it.

When I encounter a YouTube channel that I find interesting I just bookmark it and check their video page every now and then for new ones. You quickly notice how often people upload so you could even sort the bookmarks by how regularly they release new videos if you wanted to. That's why I never understood it when people complain about not being shown videos from people they subscribe to or how their recommended videos are things that doesn't interest them

Mmmm not really, it varies a lot and lately it has become really lame.

Idk what youtube did, but my recommendations kind of sucks at the moment. On the plus side, i spent less time on that site.

Someone once linked a hippo having explosive diarrhea on the forum, I made the mistake of watching it without using incognito mode, and as it turns out, that is an entire genre on YouTube.

Most yt links I experienced were Rick Rolls or Crypto grifts. That hippo content sounds too cursed.

Content cannibalism. Youtubers who pump out content are vultures to any trending topic just like a fanartist who never has phases of sticking to drawing for the one series that captivates them, they are there to take your time.

Real content creators make new things to serve the audience more than themselves because they see themselves as part of the audience. They were mostly already gone by 2010. The few left got popular and then left for a respectable industry like FilthyFrank or few good SFM animators.

@rohan121 It's pretty disgusting, but it's otherwise harmless.

YouTube is garbage; you can't even post under 1-min funny Anime clips (they get blocked immediately), you can't post Adult art/images (they get blocked immediately), you can't mention anything about straight sex, you can't joke about LGBT, you can't post anything controversial, and your music always gets copyrighted.

Like, wtf, why even use YouTube then? fucking pointless platform.

YouTube Algorithm is busted now. Susan Wojcicki liked her or not she actually knew how to run that site.

My Youtube feed sometimes shows the same video for months. They will always bring up videos you have already watched. It's hard to find new music on Youtube so I go on Spotify a lot to discover new artists. Then I find that artist on Youtube.
