Why didn't the studio produce a second season and how many anime DVDs and novels did they sell?

I’m not sure if you know this but when it was released this anime was compared to an anime of similar quality called Asterisk War. I don’t think this was the main reason why but it might be because this anime was more popular than CoFK. Thus Asterisk War got the 2nd season and not this show.

Neither of the animation studios (Silver Link and Nexus) decide when/if this series gets a sequel. The final decision comes down the production committee, and although Silver Link was part of it, I don't think this series is really that much in demand that they'd be trying hard to push for a new season.

Then again, there have been a lot of series lately that returned even after a whole decade, so who knows, really.

@Anime-geek03 Was the author really sick? I understand that sales may have been poor, which is why there's no season 2.

@Oongbuh What is the anime viewership and LN readership? I know, for example, that the Bleach anime returned after 10 years, and the studio has begun producing four installments of the final Bleach saga. Studio Pierrot is producing the final fourth installment. I assume the production director decides whether the anime will have another season or not.

I liked it too. At this point, I never expect a S2 from anything I watch. There are countless series that IMHO were really good but never got the nod. I think the studios want a (mostly) guaranteed income stream and making a new series from a known source pretty much guarantees people will watch some of the season. Season extensions are more risky than something new. Only blockbusters and shitty shows (why are there 7 cardfights, for example) get extended. I’m pleasantly surprised when something I enjoyed gets extended.

Silver Link isn’t known for doing 2nd seasons i think but it’s not up to them anyway it’s up to the producers. I always thought the anime adaptation was used as a marketing for the LN. it’s a shame cuz it’s one of the popular anime of 2015 and everyone in my class enjoyed it.

that’s funny cuz I remember it differently when both anime were airing. COFK was better in all aspects than Asterisk war and was more popular and have a higher score on MAL. tons of fight scenes of COFK have hundred thousands or millions of views on youtube and Asterisk war was more known for its ecchi and fan service scenes. Asterisk war has Aniplex as producers and A1 pictures is their studio ur pretty much guaranteed a 2nd season if u have those 2 working on yout anime regardless if its good or not. Silver Link are also known for not doing 2nd seasons and their producers arent well know or at least im not aware of.

Asterisk was pretty good ngl. But yeah this is in fact the common belief.

lol u can literally search just Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry on youtube right now and see 9 fight scenes with 500k-10M views it’s not just one fight like u claim. “most of them suck” yeah please explain why it has a lot of views then lol u just be saying anything. the fact that COFK has a higher MAL score than any Asterisk season already speaks volumes that it was better in all aspects but I guess whatever makes u sleep well at night.
