Greetings MAL!

I been on and off MAL for a few years now. I was mainly active on MAL like a little less of a decade ago.

Ironically, I still visited the website but I barely logged in. I pretty much used it to read up on news and check out recommendations that were sent to me.

To be honest, I haven't been watching anime as consistently as before, and I am feeling pretty overwhelmed with the choices. So here I am trying to get back into the swing of things, and see if I can get guidance on some good stuff to watch/read!

I hope everyone is enjoying themselves! Plus, I am happy to see the forums are still active!!

Welcome back, OG!! :)
There's been a resurgence of MAL users that have been here for quite awhile that
are coming back again these days, which is quite nice.

Second, your forum set is gorgeous! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

@JFang_ Thanks so much! I admit this forum set has been one I created so long ago. I did a lot of photoshop work but regrettably I let go of photoshop since (license is too expensive and I have not yet got to grips with GIMP yet) -- but who knows maybe I will do some light work/retry with GIMP if I can get my resources back online.

What are the odds of more old MAL users are coming back!

Yay!

@LabMemberX It's my pleasure. I always found the forum games really fun. I know forums can be intimidating for users that want to engage only lightly and quickly, so I always felt the forum games section fit perfectly!!

Welcome back^^ That's a super nice About Me graphic you've got.
I sort of get the impression you're more looking for more recent stuff to watch / read, so hopefully you don't mind some older recommendations: a bit boring but I think I'd recommend the manga versions of Nausicaa, Bokurano, and especially Soul Eater (Fire Force as well I'd say on that note); I haven't seen the anime version of Bokurano myself and I know people have some very different opinions on the two so maybe not but you did like one of his other manga a bunch so maybe. Promare's probably a pretty safe recommendation as well; Trigger mecha anime film with a pretty cool artstyle, I'll mention that Rakuen Tsuihou / Expelled From Paradise is getting a sequel soon if you missed that, and I've not read either myself but as far as Kaijuu stuff goes (re; Kaijuu 8gou) I've heard pretty good things about Daikaijuu Gaea-tima so maybe that'd be worth a look, oh and if you really haven't watched the rest of the Kara no Kyoukai films I'd super recommend that - I think the last one is probably the best one!
That's probably not of much help but maybe it is, regardless hopefully you enjoy yourself here again! (Also cool to see another fan of Granbelm^^)

@WingsR

Firstly, thank you for the welcome back!

Secondly, thank you for the compliment on the About Me graphic!

I actually have read the manga of this fully. It was definitely interesting. But to be honest, much needed since the show didn't really get up to where the manga was at. I didn't mind the read too much. I should definitely make sure I update my list now to reflect that I've read it!

I am going to note these all down -- I had no idea that Expelled From Paradise is getting a sequel. It has been awhile since I watched the first iteration!

I remember really enjoying Granbelm! If I recall correctly, it wasn't as well received and I remember feeling surprised!

Thanks for all the recommendations -- I really appreciate it!

Your profile mentions liking darker series & looking at what you’ve rated 9 or 10 some fairly recent suggestions:
Dead Dead Demons Dedede Destruction (don’t watch episode 0 until next to last) • Takopi’s Original Sin • Summertime Rendering • Heavenly Delusion • Migi & Dali (has cringe humor but also a murder mystery with psychological elements)

@Ohayotaku Perfect. I'll check these out. I actually have Summertime Rendering on my shortlist that I wrote the other day!

haha, oops this topic derailed a little bit from the introduction thread intent. But I still appreciate the suggestions all the same!

Welcome back.

I recommend kingdom by Yasuhise Hara https://myanimelist.net/manga/16765/Kingdom?q=kingdom%20&cat=manga

The series is anti war showcasing the harsh reality of war, focusing on tactician side of the battlefield, how tacticians get what they want with their tactics, playing as one team and also unleashing unit strength by speeches that boosts the morals alongside more things and my favorite segment politics how the political party gains political support, how some decisions may affect the state and entire china, how some decisions needs to be made that may be controversial but will be great in the long run to maintane the balance between economy and society, political ideology clashes, speeches and more. This series is great I recommend.

I forgot to add that it is semi fictional adaptation of historical text "unification of china" .

Oh really? I knew it made some changes but I thought it got made after the manga was finished, so if I'm not misunderstanding you that's weird.

I am going to note these all down -- I had no idea that Expelled From Paradise is getting a sequel. It has been awhile since I watched the first iteration!

Hopefully I hit the mark on at least some of them, but glad to be of help on Expelled From Paradise^^ Looks like it's due to come out next year.

I remember really enjoying Granbelm! If I recall correctly, it wasn't as well received and I remember feeling surprised!

It's a really neat show with really great visuals, so yeah it's a bit sad that it didn't do better. They seemed to have been able to make the show they wanted to make though, so we can be happy about that.

Thanks for all the recommendations -- I really appreciate it!

No problem, if I could help at all then I'm more than glad to have done so^^
