i wish there were more satoko fans

You should probably have posted this on one of the Higurashi sub-forums versus on the main anime general discussion one where a lot of people who haven't watched the series and don't know the characters won't know what you're talking about. Ideally post it on the first season's sub-forum.

But it should go without saying that Gou and Sotsu - especially Sotsu and how poor the quality was of the writing and everything compared to earlier seasons and how nonsensical her logic and motivations were and were explained, only harmed her popularity and image, outside of a certain subgroup of fans anyway (the pro-yuri shippers and yandere fans who also always rooted for and heavily identified with that side of Shion).

Since she became the effective mascot and poster child of Sotsu (in a way that Rena and then to some extent Rika were for the original seasons and OVAs) and I'd say it has like The Godfather III or Game of Thrones season 8-level respect and acceptance within the fandom community.

I wouldn’t say I’m a Satoko “fan”, but I don’t dislike her
