Whats the hype about this show anyway?

The first season was average, it felt lots of shounen tropes jumbled into 12 eps. Like the first two eps was boring and it left me slightly interested in the island. Also, the fight and animation wasnt even good, dont know how ppl say it was good.

well, it's just a you thing then. as for me, the story only gets better and the conclusion was good imo. as for the animation, wasn't the best but it did it for me. here's hoping MAPPA delivers with s2 animation but now that JJK s3 is airing in the same season...I'm somewhat worried, lol.

storyline was good but animation relied way to heavily on cg. i get that some monsters can't be animated but almost every monster was cg hope mappa doesn't do that again

Call me an anime casual (I read mostly), but I don't really care about animation and fights, if it looks cool, dope. If not, whatever. Hell's paradise is cool because it takes the shonen formula and delivers without taking too long, and has relatable characters with solid growth/development. It's a very concise series, which I really wish we could see more of.

I’ve finished worse. At some point there will be nothing new, it will all be reworked/reconfigured tropes, told in a different way, since media(works of art) are lossless now, perhaps great resets are necessary for entertainment and art?

I find myself to be picky and super judgemental and hating all fighting animes and yet I added this one to my favorite (elite animes)! what's the deal with you? if you don't find Hell's paradise a full anime, what else satisfies you?

It’s a pretty basic shounen. The mystery aspect of it is fully gotten rid of in only a few episodes. If you have nothing better to watch, it’s fun. But if you have like a backlog, it can go pretty far back.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

I always find it interesting how guys that have seen the genre in and out are super intolerant to more and love to yap day in day out. Like, I know when it my turn to have seen all the tropes I'll either
1. enjoy the show for whatever new-y concepts or setting it has, or enjoy the differently told so-called "reworked/reconfigured tropes" for the different way it's told

2. either that or I'll just move on from battle shonen. it's not nearly worth the trouble

Peoples takes vary. Me for example I really enjoyed the first season. For me personally it felt very different compared to other shounens I have watched, alongside it being a more mature anime.

Besides, the ending setup really sold me on the show’s premise, while others will call it lacking in story. It’s a good setup and Im very excited where the story goes moving forward. (Have not read manga)

If you watch kaiju or solo then I'd say it's worth the watch. I would put it above them. It has a unique story/world for the most part and doesn't feel like a copy paste shonen.
