I'm tired of survival battle shows. Another, deadman wonderland, king's game, etc, I can't anymore.

Is this one more character-driven rather than story-driven? In other words, are the characters growing, making choices of their own, and is the story revolving around their own actions and decisions? Someone said this anime was similar to 7 Seeds. As I really like the former but can't with battle royales, I wanted to ask for an opinion :)

it was pretty interesting, but it ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger and it's very unlikely it will get a 2nd season, to my understanding

it kinda starts like a battle royale but that idea doesn't last for long. the show tries to develop the characters but imo it falls short of that and the characters are pretty boring and very stupid making decisions. the show also doesn't have a decisive ending so it is pretty much a loss of time watching it rn(from what i have heard, the director made an adaptation of the chinese series without properly informing the author or sum like that). Basically the pretends to be a battle royale but really isn't since it is more like characters against "villains" and not everybody against everybody, and the story (so far at least) is bad and not worth it

@TheUltimateB

Thank you for the answer. Reading your comment, I think I'll skip watching that thanks to you, probably would be a waste of time. And the director not even informing the original author is crazy lol

If you are watching for good shows, then it's for the best to skip this one. As for the director not informing the author again I'm not really sure, but I was really looking for explanations and found myself on some chinese reddit like site, where people were saying stuff like that. Apparently the original work was pretty big in China

@TheUltimateB I don't see how the show ever tried to be like a battle royale. It appears to be more like a death game where they have to solve problems/puzzles in order to escape, more similar to like Duan Nao. Doesn't feel like a player vs player instance. They are stuck on an island, so it's probably more like a survive and escape game. After all, all the players are put there with no idea of why they're there. And they're told nothing. It's not at all like Deadman Wonderland or Btooom where they are actively told to kill each other to survive. And idt it's like King's Game where there's only one survivor either.

It's not a battle royale as far as I remember.
