Guys i wanna ask u genuine question who watched this and can tell me is it worth or not? I started few times already till 2nd or 3rd episode but i just cant get past this cuz i really hate Hikari. That guy is obnoxious bully whi yells alot and drags poor Manaka like slave. Does it get better+

I watched this anime a long time ago probably around 2018-2019? Anyways, to answer your question, yes id say it’s a bit worth it. This anime looked beautiful and while the characters do lack character in the first half, the second half gets more “serious” and we see personal growth from several characters. I personally enjoyed the second half more than the first and some of your complaints go away in the second half, but I can maybe see new ones surface later on. This is a love octagon show and if you’re into romance this might be for you.

Yes i am i love drama and love octagons pentagons and on ofc. Ty for ur review. All i could complain for now was hikari but il give it a try. I was in search of more complex romance cuz, today's romance is too soft without drama all served on plate so its kinda boring to play. I remember that old romances delivers bigger impact on me

Yes and no. I enjoyed the first half but at the second it felt like the anime doesn't have ideas. Hikari became ok-ish at the second half but Kanade (Hikari's best friend) became annoying

I do not have any hard feelings about this Anime but to be honest if you have already tried starting it on multiple occasions and didn't manage to stick with it - I'd say it really isn't worth it. the anime overall had little to offer aside from pleasant visuals (for me at least).

I just finished this show 2 days ago. I'm telling you, it’s great! I also hated Hikari at first, but seeing his situation and struggle throughout the story changed the image of him.
This story is complicated bcz of its nested love interests. So the conclusion might not be to your liking. But I was satisfied with the ending. It's emotional depth, the characters struggle, thier resolvability - everything touched me. It might be one of my fav romance anime now.

Well that’s great to hear. And yeah, it is totally worth binging multiple parts of it in one go, but I wouldn’t recommend going through the entire series at once. It has definitely well developed with complex emotions (especially after the halfway point tone change which is BIG) on top of the truly peak artistic background works as well as special effects and character animation on top of it. Quite frankly I don’t think P.A.Works has done better than this since. I mean that.
I would probably recommend doing it in four episode increments, to truly enjoy the flow of the story whilst still pacing it out so you don’t end up having to say goodbye to the characters too quickly.

I think I went through the same thing when I watched this series, and I had the same complex and thankfully satisfied conclusion in my heart at the end. It’s been shockingly many years now since I watched this series, even though I’ve got the ultimate edition Blu-ray box that I saw it on. I think I saw it only a short while after it first came out. Perhaps it’s time for me to go through it again and see if my age has changed me to the point that I feel differently about it now, for better or for worse.
Either way though, this definitely still stands as one of the most multilevel detailed works that P.A.Works has ever done to this day. That in itself is both amazing, and a little heartbreaking.

It’s an anime where the creators had 2-3 good story ideas and 2-3 good characters and then just said well who cares to the rest of it. Both main characters are terrible imo and are as dumb as a bag of rocks. Also I’d say after around ep 13-14 this show becomes a rushed mess. Visuals are good though I must say.

I wouldn’t binge. On the upside: Beautifully animated with nice art direction and design. The set-up is solid and it has some emotional moments that work. On the downside: Frustrating characters I don’t care about, a rushed and poorly executed story. 6/10

I remember watching this randomly, saw the cover and thought the visual was great then didn't even notice that I binge watch this and for me it was worth, I was actually satisfied with the ending, but before these I felt some heavy feelings while watching this 😅

Well, I watched it like, 2 years ago I think, and honestly... I can't recommend this anime. The first half was really good, even with the annoying characters and all, but watching the second half of it was torture. It's 50/50 for me, in the sense that if you want to create your own opinion about this anime, you should watch it, or you can stay with the mixed reactions of the people who have finished it. It's really up to you. (I apologize for any grammatical mistakes, English isn't my first language)

I just finished nagi no asukara (A lull in the sea). At first it felt like some ordinary love octagon, pentagon series but as I watched past the first half i felt that the characters have changed so much. The animation is very good for it to be a 2013 year's. I also didn't like hakari at first but after seeing him gradually changing and accepting his fate that manaka loves tsumugu(which turns out to be not true).
His personality changes very much and I liked the setting and the story about the people living under the sea and how they're bonding with the people of surface. The festival also seemed very realistic and is a nice touch in this story. Second half is very emotional. I cried at the ending thinking that miuna would die but she doesn't but her love was not successful either. That bothers me but I love the ending of Chisaki x Tsumugu and Kaname x Sayu. It's good that Kaname could find his girl. I love a line from this anime "A heart that doesn't change and a heart that changes gradually by time neither is wrong". The story is complex and I like this kind of complex love situation unfolding and having a happy ending though I'm curious about Miuna's love. With whom will she end up with but It was a great watch for me. I would recommend it 10/10.
