As everybody knows it has been more than 4 years since we received the news Uzumaki will be released by 2023 and still no update from Crunchyroll or anywhere. Does anybody know when we will get to see this?

This is the only news update which was on June 2022.


Like, I know they want to deliver a good and finished product but it is taking more than 4 years and we have just received recent Junji Ito's Itou Junji: Maniac this year whose news was released on last half of 2022.

It released a trailer like 2 months ago + they also reconfirmed it’d be for 2023, my guess is either it drops late this year or early next year

i think it’d be worth the wait. pluto took six years and because of that, the studio was able to release eight movie length episodes with fantastic visual fidelity and amazing attention to the original source material. if it means getting a fantastic adaption of uzumaki, i don’t mind waiting however long

@kakashis_sidehoe Nah, the reason it took so long was because it had a very long pre-production cycle. Maruyama Masao created studio M2 in order to pre-produce and plan for several projects, including Pluto. It was explained that 'with how things are in the industry,' M2 was forced to be the animation production studio for the products. I guess they mean that everyone else were too busy with their projects.

If you go look at the credits, tons of companies cooperated with M2 to create Pluto; most notably BILBA, DR Movie, MAPPA, VOLN and Tezuka Productions. Which makes sense, because there's no way they could've done it alone under that tight of a schedule.

Anyway, I'm excited for Uzumaki, because it's been delayed for quality's sake several times now. It'll be worth the wait for sure :)
