I've wanted to start this series, and been having trouble with understanding which of the seasons is the first

Mal literally shows which is the first when you go to related anime, if the one you are looking at is the prequal, it will show the sequal, also, the one you made this post for is the first season

this is season 1.

it goes

this -> s1 ova -> s2 (heart throb) -> s2 ova -> movie (take on me)

I recommend watching the ovas because they are referenced in the movie (at least one is anyways). there's some other shorts and stuff too, but there optional and don't really add anything.

if u start here and just press sequal u should be fine, since ovas are counted as sequals and it'll lead u to the final movie in order.

I know but it gets confusing when there are more than one animes in the prequal or the sequal. that's why I wanted to ask. ty :)

The start of the second season is just so fresh, that it took me four episodes to realize that there is actually a prequel to it. srsly, I need a lot sleep back then. T^T
