THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Doesn't it all boil down to the person piloting the labor though? It seemed like a pretty good Patlabor for Division 1 but just because it isn't better than the Ingram they had to scrap it? Seems silly especially since they had some random test pilot go up against Noa, who beat the Griffin which was more powerful, in her Ingram.

Yeah Division 1 needs something, even if it isn't as good as an Ingram.

This episode was iffy. It's not that the new machine was worse than the old ingram. It was just that the fine tuning of Noah ingram made her more efficient with her machine.

If the new machine had been fine tuned for her then she would have been even more efficient.

So yeah. It did not make any sense to scrap the new machine. It would have been lot better if the outcome would have been that" sometimes you just have let go".

Would have been nice to see her give a emotional goodbye to Alphonse.

Great resume the discussion on the Ingram discontinued in favor of a machine for "general purposes", the narration can express good feelings and reasons arising from this possible evolution. I love the characters of this anime series, too bad he's about to finish, I will miss very much.

I wonder how those Production Model labors would operate if Sakaki and his mechanics fine-tuned them. A bit of a shame for them to scrap the whole project.

Feel really bad for Division 1. I hope they get new Labors before the series concludes, or at least get some Ingrams.

Find outcome production model to be ridiculous. It is test model indented for mass production with inexperienced pilot of course it will lose to Ingram. I think with some more work it would have been perfect upgrade for division 1.

I think episode might have tried to say something else with it however I can't put my hand on what exactly. Was it general purpose vs special made labors or average pilot with computer assistance vs experienced pilot.

On the other hand I like how Noa this episode. She is not is not going off the rails that her precious Alphonse is going to be changed like she did earlier. She is cooperative and is giving her all in the tests. Also it looks like Sasaki is teaching Noa to do some maintenance on Ingram.

Loved this episode, but why haven't we seen the highly affectionate dog from the OP in any episodes yet? What a tease.

Episodes where something either interesting or story/world relevant are increasingly rare now that the Griffin is gone. The police going in for service tests on a new model is a good episode idea and this was a decent episode. And of course, surprisingly Ota has a problem with the way Izumi does something. At this point I feel like that fucking character has just ruined this show for me. I think the series is too long and too lacking in real episode ideas to actually be great but without Kanuka telling him to shut up Ota is just unchecked cancer every time he appears on the screen.

I'm starting to dislike the ''upgrading the Ingram'' subplot, Noa needs to accept the fact that the ingram will objectively be outclassed by new labors sooner or later and division 1 is suffering for her stubborness, I feel very bad for gomioka and nagumo honestly.

@Switch_Z I asked around and the consensus is that the singer of that song is most likely Hiroko Kasahara, which is probable given that she performs a couple of songs for the Patlabor series. Unfortunately, I looked through the Patlabor TV soundtrack and didn't find a song that sounds like it.
