I think you should give the original Ghost in the Shell a shot. If you watch the remastered edition, the animation is top notch. Can be gruesome at times, like heads exploding or limbs being torn off, badass female MC is definitely there and there are a couple of pretty cool action sequences, but it's not really an action anime, it's more of a thinky-thinky anime. |

| Just find some hipster's blog... Anyway, as for underrated goes, I think Blood: The Last Vampire (nobody seems to know about this anime) and Afro Samurai are fairly underrated. Serial Experiments Lain is underrated on this site, but it's not what you're looking for, but then again, it is a very famous series. |
