silence

a mammoth oppression
like a tsunami crashing down
rips us apart the moment it finds a perch
to watch this miserable spectacle
the lonely sea drags us under
we're too busy letting ourselves drown
to reach out and breathe into each other
how long can we hold the air in
before we sleep perpetually beneath the waves?

While you cower in fearful reticence,
the world is leaving you behind.
Understanding is what you seek,
but what you'll never find in your self-imposed exile.
Stop shying away from color;
The monotony of black, white and grey
will drive even the strong mad over time.
If you need a hand to pull you out of the grime,
you need to let me know you're there.
Don't adhere to the mime's silent template;
The clown, in her psychedelic psychosis,
makes a much better playmate.
