It wasn't a bad read per se, and the art was nice, but I didn't like the storyline here as much as the Jump Special.

Some character interaction or parts that added humor to the animated version were omitted here, like the exchange between Gokuu and Vegeta when they arrived at the hotel, the daikon field part that settled who would fight Abo and Cado and all those little scenes between Vegeta and Bulma that showed them as a couple and as parents.

Toriyama was being his polite self when he said that the manga artist had a better understanding of the characters than he did, but really, the part when Vegeta and Gokuu were arguing who should fight them and Bulma and Chichi stepping in that they should pass it to the kids made me raise an eyebrow. Didn't the two mothers chew the adults out when they left Trunks and Goten fight Buu all by themselves when he attacked the lookout, citing that they were just kids? It wasn't just in character for them to not be concerned over their children's safety and allow them to fight when their parents and Gohan were available.

It's nothing much, but Tarble's design here was better than the OVA.
