The ignore list needs some upgrading.

Let me one up that by saying the ignore/block list people shouldn't even be able to react to any reviews. No way to interact with you is what im gettin at. Total isolation,like they don't even exist.

@Alkimia Judging by what they mention, they can even still comment on your profile. Archaic system to say the least.

On a related note, someone sent me a friend request just to send me slurs using that message system when you add someone, and I have no clue if there's anything I can do about that. I thought about reporting them, but there are so many rules and I remember reading somewhere that if you report someone for like the wrong reason or something you get banned instead so I just shrugged it off and thankfully they didn't spam me with their bs after that one time.

You can definitely report this, the mods can handle grey areas, although this isn't a grey area, its a deliberate misuse of the system and one reason I don't accept random FRs anymore lol. And I've never heard of a ban for a report made in good faith. Probably bans are for people with deliberate waste-of-time reports. When in doubt, you can always ask or say in the report you're unsure- I would think!

Well i don't know if my own reviews can be categorized as "my thread" but i do have an annoyance. Some guy took it upon himself to add that confusing reaction to all my reviews,and i doubt it's because he found some flaws or i spoke some non-sense.

@Alkimia Trust us, CC really is the right person to go to. She's very aware of the person who FR'ed you, and wouldn't have any trouble dealing with that person. Likely you have an email notification with, let's just call them by the first letter of their username, "I", which has their full username and link to profile, so you can just let CC know the profile link, and if possible, send her a screenshot of the email, which'd show the dude's phobia-laced FR.

If they dont want downvotes, I think a "lack of positive emojis" is enough to signal a poorly written review as opposed to a flood of trolling on what seems like every review I've read. I feel so bad for the reviewers. It's hard to write one. You gotta put yourself out there. And you do well but get a little stamp of HAHA YOU SUCK! on your work from a person who has never made a lick of content in their life.

@KimuraTheHatoru I looked and saw that name. Hate to say it, but that person does that to nearly every review they see. Like if there were a way to see all the reactions they've left on MAL, it'd be a huge majority 🤨 and 😂 reactions. You're not alone on that front, so trust me, it's not targeted, they're just like that with maybe 60% of the (Usually positive) reviews on the site.

@Daviljoe193 I mean,i fully expect a negative response from people who liked the show i didn't.But doing it randomly... it kinda... ruins good faith? More of an unwritten rule then anything. Guess ignoring is still the best thing to do if anything else can't happen.

@KimuraTheHatoru If it makes you feel any better, a LOT of people are sick of that dude's shit. Just look at his own reviews, and bask in the 🤨 reactions left in protest on so many of them. :P

a lot more harmful is some of the behavior that goes on in the forums where you have what seems to be discord groups full of users hateganging on certain other users in all their threads for being "pretentious" and "fake"
that's just bullying

and it seems like they aren't actually being punished for it, the threads simply get locked with a general message to stay "on topic" even though the ones that derailed that topic were the bullies
which seems to reward them for doing it, right? if you don't like someone, you can just get all their threads locked while talking shit about them
and somehow they can just keep doing it even with the existence of an ignore list

Not really. While it doesn't hurt your feelings, the cumulative effect of many small declines has a negative impact on the community in the end. Which is why a lot of small positive changes also matter over time and should be our end goal. So, yeah, imo change the emoji system.



Maybe, but my points still stand. I kinda just skimmed through the rest of your post since it was so poorly worded with bad grammar and punctuation, with a lot of the dreaded "theys" and "seems like" so no offense lol I didn't really read it. But there's no need to pick and choose what's worse if its all bad and should be changed.
