Anyone else gave up on a so-called achievable dream?

Growing up, I was always drawn to the world of intelligence ,the idea of being a spy, working behind the scenes, handling sensitive information, navigating high-stakes situations. It wasn’t just the action or mystery that appealed to me, but the discipline, strategy, and purpose behind it all.

I honestly believed I had some of the right qualities: a strong analytical mind, attention to detail, discretion, and a deep interest in human behavior and global affairs. But somewhere along the way, I chose the safer, more “normal” path( university ig), a stable career trajectory, and a life that makes sense on paper.

Lately, I’ve been wondering: Did anyone else have a dream like this, something intense, maybe even extreme that you didn’t follow through with? What made you step away from it, and do you ever regret it?

I’m not unhappy with where I am, but part of me still feels that pull toward something more...unconventional. Would love to hear from anyone who’s had a similar experience or maybe even pursued their wild dream.

Sure, I gave up on most of my dreams, it feels like the chances of realizing them are too low to even bother trying, so I just daydream about them.
No, this isn't my signature.

I had many dreams as a kid but my main one was astronomy. I really suck at school so I didn't pursue higher education. I do regret it because if I tackled my issues with school, I would have tackled my issues all together and had a better life. End of the day I'm good, I have a really good job.

Hm... I don't know. I've changed courses, and realize some things may never come to fruition, but given up?

the idea of being a spy

lol did you watch burn notice written by that actual spy? cause that show told me being a spy is fuckin stressful

As a kid, I had low standards, $10k a year was my dream cause I liked my time more than money
My biggest dream as a kid was to have a personality. I'll never know if I really have one even after spending half my life trying to figure it out. I don't know how to present what I want to say in a way that makes me think I can be satisfied with its presentation because I have always handed it off to other people.

I don't regret chasing that dream because of how it changed me, but I deep down, I want to still go after it despite being tied up in other pursuits.

I've already achieved most of my dreams, so no I guess I don't really have too much that I would still want. Maybe to travel the world.
