For the readers that already know the conclusion of the story, can you tell me if Anne and Gilbert will still end up together? I don't like how Anne was on the couple of episodes with her half-@ssed decisions..

@intiharr lol please don't traumatize Kirutato.

In the end Anne..

Not sure if they're going to use the last episode to tell more about Anne's life, or they're just going to end it with the confession.

@JUNGLE_FEVER If it was successful enough, they might do a second season. At least I hope that at this rate of adaptation they won't squeeze everything that's left into a couple of episodes.

It's amazing how many people ship Anne with Gilbert at this point, considering how much the anime has gone the Hibbike route by cutting out male lead time in favor of "adolescence".

@RobertBobert The older series benefited greatly from a narrator. There was no doubt that even when Anne stubbornly "rejected" Gilbert that he remained the one who fit her the best. Characters will note Gilbert's hardworking quality, or that he only talks about books and the like etc., but as the audience we know that Anne matches that description perfectly. They're basically on the road to the same destination. When Anne cuts her hair due to the dye incident, the narrator just calmly outs the fact that Gilbert already liked Anne, and that he liked her even more with short hair.

Many things are lost with less time for detail.

@BustyKagefusa That's what I'm talking about. Maybe Yamada-sensei had more to do with the show than just directing the opening and closing animations, lmao. But seriously, this adaptation has a big pacing problem overall.

@RobertBobert Three books in just 24 episodes is indeed crazy. At best only the cliffnotes and major scenes could be covered, not in depth mind you, but simply covered. All the pacing and detail lost from those major moments, combined with all the minor moments being dropped - leaves the audience with nothing substantial to hold on to. And with no solid foundation and only the basest of development throughout, the audience is just being dragged along for the ride with characters they barely understand and sometimes barely see.

@BustyKagefusa In this sense, this anime is like a neural network retelling of a book for people who don't have time to read it.

Anne kissed another man

If Gilbert had any self-respect, he would not accept Anne with her lips stained with another man's lips-fluids

@oooo3333 What are you? 5? That mentality won't get you anywhere. Drop it now before is too late, for your own sake.

@RobertBobert I think the anime convinced me to read the source material and experience the full breath of the story.

@Technopunk When it comes to Anne of Avonlea/Anne of the Island that'd probably be for the best. AoGG and Before Green Gables were adapted well by Nippon Animation and in total there are 89 episodes covering Anne's single-digit years right up to her "burying the hatchet" with Gilbert as friends.

@Technopunk I don't think many people will read the book after a brief description of neural networks.
