Personal issue with the format

It was the same with Tsumugi, she may not have died but she still didn't make all of her memories with the islanders (Ao's sister also wouldn't have woken up but I'm beating a dead horse at this point). Even now with the events of episode 22 (amazing episode) and the series wrapping up, I can't help but think about the previous routes.

If I was in charge, each route would only have the current main girl's issues happening and the other girls are just living normal lives; this way it makes it easier to go into each route with a clear head.

I get this is probably just a me thing and pretty minor overall but it's been bugging me since the start of the 2nd route. Also, if I've misunderstood how visual novels are structured I would appreciate some clarity but I read somewhere that this is how it works.
