Filmarks has just announced that the Chainsaw Man movie is the No. 1 most anticipated September film in Japan.

When the Blu-Ray sale numbers for season 1 released, the narrative that "Japan hated the Chainsaw Man anime" started flying around, and that Chainsaw Man was a financial failure.

However, it turns out that the main demographic who purchases anime Blu-Rays are hardcore otaku's, as it is seen as a collectors item in Japan, similar to anime figures.

It turns out that people vastly overestimated how big that fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the fanbase really was, and most people who watched the anime enjoyed it. Who would've thought.

Well, if you saw the trailer you can see that they fixed the wannabe movie cringe style they used in the first season

I dunno, Tatsuki Fujimoto seems to like films a lot, what with sayonara eri and the weirdo film director in fire punch and the cinema outing in chainsaw man

@Captain_Pasta
is it real ....?
was it a flop 1st season ssn 1 csm
I loved 1st seasons artwork man tht has to be one of the greatest works in the anime industry, it will live for long time, no matter wt critic's say....! ,
it's just a reason to spread negativity about a new Mainstream series or a film☝ , it happens in every industry..!
we shouldn't listen to such Things instead we have to judge the cinema as per our perspective and maker perspective...!☝ thts how you rate or judge a content

although he loves films, if you compare the manga to season 1 its just not the same. the colours are too "realistic" compared to the wildness of the manga and some characters dont look like how they do in the manga too. looking at the trailer for the reze arc, theyve fixed this issue and im really looking forward to it now

@Catalano Shut-in otaku's, who make up less than 1% of the anime's viewer base, did watch the interview and get upset with Nakayama.

Normal people who watched the show enjoyed it and moved on, instead of bitching online and boycotting the Blu-Rays because a guy who directed a cartoon said things that they personally took as "disrespectful". Hell, I'm willing to bet that even in Japan, the vast majority of people who watched season 1 don't even know who Nakayama is, let alone what he said.

But no, let's throw actual logic and nuance out the window, and instead go with "ALL OF JAPAN HATES NAKAYAMA, THE ANIME WAS THE WORST ADAPTATION IN ALL OF MEDIA AND THE DIRECTOR HATES ANIME!!!", because that's what those who disliked season 1 want to hear.
